Part 38

Laura P.O.V.

I awake the next morning to the nurse coming in to check mum's vitals. "How is she?" I ask still half asleep. "She is healing slowly but is doing well." the nurse answers. I decide to go for a walk and get a coffee. I head down to the cafeteria and grab a coffee and a muffin. I haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon. I head back up to mum's room. I sit next to the bed and put my food down and hold her hand. "You're going to be okay mum I know you will, you are a fighter. Besides nothing can happen to you, who else is going to scare the kids into doing their chores." I say chuckling a bit. I then can feel her squeezing my hand. "You know that no one can do that better then me." she says groggily. I smile and lightly lean over and hug her. "Don't you ever do that to me ever again young lady do you understand me." I say getting firm with mum. I know the accident wasn't her fault but I can't afford to lose her. She is the glue that holds the family together. Without her we would be lost. "I promise I won't." she says half smiling at me. "Do you want me to get the nurse?" I ask worried she might be in  pain. "No sweetheart I'm fine don't worry." she says squeezing my hand. I sit and watch her as she sleeps. I wish I could take her pain away but I know I can't. A few hours later mum is sitting up in bed and eating like a champ. I decide to leave her for a minute and call Tom to tell him what is going on. He picks his phone up on the first ring. "Hey babe what's up?" "Hey honey listen Mum was in a car accident, she is okay, she is awake and eating right now. The only reason I didn't tell you was because her mum was there and I didn't want her worrying." I say afraid of my husband's reaction. "Don't worry love I understand I'm not mad." he says. I'm pretty sure he heard me breath a huge sigh of relief. "Do you need me to bring you or Helena anything? A change of clothes or anything?" he asks. "I can run home and pack a bag  with clothes for me and her besides I still have your car." I say. "Okay, I'll see you in a little bit then love." he says before hanging up. I hang up with Tom and head back in to mum's room to see her starting to look tired. "I'm going to head home to pack you and I some clothes and some things we will need and I will be back faster then you can say quiditch." I say making her laugh. "Okay sweetheart be careful." she says kissing my cheek. I head out to the parking lot and get into Tom's car and head home When I get there, I dash into the house and see Tom with a duffel bag at his feet. "I packed you your clothes and what you need, you just have to pack Helena's." he says smirking at me. "Thank you babe." I say kissing him. I dash upstairs to mum's room and pack a duffel bag of her clothes and the toiletries she will need. Hopefully she will be coming home tomorrow. 

Helena P.O.V. 

I know I am in the hospital I could faintly hear the hustle and bustle. I know I was in a car accident but I don't remember what happened after that. The next thing I remember is hearing Laura talking to me. "You're going to be okay mum I know you will you are a fighter. Besides nothing can happen to you, who else is going to scare the kids into doing their chores." I can hear her say and chuckling a bit. In response I squeeze her hand. "You know that no one can do that better then me." I say groggily. I see Laura smile and lightly lean over and hug me. "Don't you ever do that to me ever again young lady do you understand me." Laura says getting firm with me.  "I promise I won't." I reply half smiling at my daughter. "Do you want me to get the nurse?" Laura asks worried I might be in pain. "No sweetheart I'm fine don't worry." I say squeezing her hand to reassure her.  A few hours later I am sitting up in bed and eating like a horse.  Laura leaves me for a minute to call Tom to tell him what is going on. She comes back in as I start to feel tired.  "I'm going to head home to pack you and I some clothes and some things we will need and I will be back faster then you can say quiditch." she says making me laugh. "Okay sweetheart be careful." I say kissing my daughter's cheek. I watch her head out to the room before falling asleep.  

Tom P.O.V. 

I know something happened to Helena. I'm not mad Laura didn't tell me. I know she was trying not to worry me and Helena's mum and that she was trying not to panic. She stayed at the hospital over night with Helena and doesn't have any clothes or anything so I know she will want stop at home to grab some stuff. I am with the kids hanging out and watching a movie when my phone rings. I see it's Laura and I pick  phone up on the first ring. "Hey babe what's up?" I say. "Hey honey listen Mum was in a car accident, she is okay, she is awake and eating right now. The only reason I didn't tell you was because her mum was there and I didn't want her worrying." she says. I can tell she is afraid of my reaction. "Don't worry love I understand I'm not mad." I answer. I can her breath a huge sigh of relief. "Do you need me to bring you or Helena anything? A change of clothes or anything?" I ask. "I can run home and pack a bag with clothes for me and her besides I still have your car." she says. "Okay, I'll see you in a little bit then love." I say before hanging up. When I get off the phone with Laura I grab a duffel bag out of the closet and pack Laura a set of clothes and toiletries. I grab another duffel bag so Laura can pack her mum's clothes.  I then grab the duffel bag and head downstairs and see Laura when she enters the house.  "I packed you your clothes and what you need, you just have to pack Helena's." I say smirking at her. "Thank you babe." she says kissing me. Laura dashes upstairs to her mum's room and packs a duffel bag of Helena's clothes and the toiletries she will need.
