Tom P.O.V.
Helena and I end up falling asleep in the waiting room of the hospital. The next morning we are awoken to the doctor standing over us. Helena and I awake with a start. "Laura isn't doing well her condition has taken a turn we don't know if she is going to survive or not. I'm sorry." the doctor then walks away. For the second time in two days I slide down the wall and cry hysterically over the fear of losing my wife. I finally regain my composure after what feels like forever and wipe my eyes. I don't know what I will do if I lose Laura I don't know what the kids will do. We slowly rise off the floor and walk slowly to Laura's room. We slowly walk in and we see her laying in the hospital bed looking small and fragile. I sit on one side of the bed as Helena sits on the other and we hold and stroke her hands so she knows that she isn't alone. As we sit I and watch the machine breathe for her. I notice Helena has tears going down her face. "Helena she'll be okay, Laura is a fighter." I tell her, not sure who I'm trying to convince more herself or me. "I hope so Tom I can't stand to lose her." Helena answers. As we sit and continue to pray the monitor suddenly starts beeping like crazy. "What's going on?" I ask in a panic as the nurse rushes into the room and I notice Laura jerking and twitching. "Her heart rate is dropping and she is having a seizure you need to leave." she says hurriedly trying to stabilize Laura. I grab Helena and we leave the room continuing to cry and pray. After what feels like an eternity the nurse meets us in the hallway and says "We finally managed to figure out what is wrong with Laura. She has hydrocephalus, that's the reason she is having the seizure. The only way we can ensure recovery is to repair her shunts which will take eight hours." the nurse says. "Do what you have to just save my wife." I say not caring that I am crying. "We will do everything we can." the nurse says. "Will Laura be ok?" Helena asks. "Time will tell." the nurse says walking away. For what feels like the millionth time that day I slide down the wall and cry over the fear of losing my wife.
