*** Fast forward to the day of the party ***
*** Rachel's POV ***
Today's Jacob's party. Yay.
It's Friday, so yes I have school but that's the least of my worries. School can go choke on wires.
Anyways, Jacob kind of ignored me today which was odd. He's actually been ignoring me since his birthday. I don't know. I probably got annoying.
I was just about to go to art. I hate art it's so boring.
Once I sat down, this new girl sat down next to me. I think I've seen her before, she might've sat at Jacob's table once. But I thought she was new because I only saw her last week. She looked like one of those girls who think they're 21 but they're actually 12, and they have had like 60 boyfriends within the past 2 years. But, like, I'm not judging.
She was wearing a black crop top that said babygirl in white, red converse, washed out ripped jeans and her hair in a messy bun. Honestly goals. But not for 12/13 year olds.
" Hey," She told me, taking the empty seat next to me. She smelled like raspberries and vanilla. Her voice was so perfect, so perfect it made me mad.
" Hi," I replied, shaking. Wait... why was I shaking? She's just a classmate.
" I'm Alexis. Call me Lexi though." She smiled. She has really good teeth.
" I'm Rachel. But you can call me Rach," wait, what? I used to hate that name!
" Okay." Lexi replies.
" Are you new here?" I ask. I've never seen her before.
" New to this school, but not new to this place," she explains. What did that mean?
" Oh," I started toying with the back of my earring.
" And if you're that person and don't know what that means, it's a way of saying yes, I'm new to this school but I've been living in Virginia for my whole life." Lexi flips her hair, but not in a rude mean girls way.
" Oh. Okay. Thanks," I tell her. " Awkward," I say under my breath. Wait oops I didn't mean to say that out loud.
" You're welcome." She laughs. And then science starts.
I look over in Jacob's direction and he looks at me, but he's the first to look away. That's strange, normally he's the one that smiles at me and then I look away.
" What's your number?" Lexi asks me. I freeze for a second, and then go back to normal.
" Oh, I'll give it to you," was all I could think of. Why. Why did I have to be so bad at socially involved things.
" Thanks," she said, taking the piece of paper I wrote my number on. I smiled in return.
She got up, and I realized how tall she was. I mean, I'm considered short, but she looked about an inch taller than me. Probably a tiny bit shorter than Jacob.
I don't know where Lexi went, but once the bell rang, she was gone.
I say hi to Becky in the hallway and it was really quick.
" Hey!" I said, hugging Becky. She hugged me back.
" Hi bestfriend!" We laugh.
" You're going to Jacob's party tonight, right?" I ask her. She nods. I sigh of happiness.
" Good. Jacob's been ignoring me and I need a friend to talk to."
We both giggle and go to our next class. I was going to Social Studies with rude Mr. Tim.
As I was walking up the stairs, I saw Jacob hugging some girl. When they were done, they kissed.
When the girl turned around, it was...
