When the commander meant he was going to put me in training, I did not expect to be put up against a cybernetically enhanced master of martial arts. I received a hard blow to the side, forcing me to slide back.

"I thought the commander was going to send me a worthy combater. He has send me an easy opponent." Genji shrugged his shoulder, barely putting in any effort fighting me. There were cameras observing us, the commander and Hana watching is.

"You said you would put him up against a fair opponent old man." Hana complained, watching me struggle in hand to hand combat with the cyborg.

"He needs to be prepared for anything. Genji is the unexpected he needs to get used to."

Hit after hit, my opponent forced me back, my forearms starting to sting in pain. Even with protective bands his punches felt like concrete. At one point I reached out for one of his fist and grabbed it, pulling him forward and using my weight and his momentum to send him tumbling. He quickly recovered, leaped into the air and kicked me square in the torso. I was send flying into a wall, then tumbled to the floor. I picked myself up with a groan and faced him again, the man extending his hand down to me. I took it, knowing that if I denied it I would seem rude. I was not happy with the combat scenario. In fact, I was angered and humiliated.

"That was a good warm up. I want you two sparring again in 10 minutes. This time with weapons. All stun ammunition." The commander went up to us and placed a healing pod on the floor, my pain slowly vanishing. Those components allowed quick healing, only allowing me to get pummeled more often.

"I see little improvement in this one, commander. Perhaps I am too much of a match for him. Maybe Hana can be his sparring partner." Genji spoke up, and even if his offer was kind, it angered me even more. He was boasting, the tone of his voice making it noticeable.

"Don't underestimate my soldier Shimada. He can hold his own, he just needs you to pull it back a notch." The commander said as he picked up the healing agent from the floor.

"Maybe you should teach him to fight before you send him to a fist fight with the robo ninja." Hana commented, but I cracked my neck and silenced them all.

"I appreciate the support, but I can defend myself. Commander, I won't disappoint you. Hana, I will do you proud. And Genji." I faced the man, extending my hand out to him. "Do not hold back on me. Show me all that you can do."

The ninja laughed and grabbed my hand, skating it and nodding at me. "You have heart, now let us see if you can keep your promises."

We both went our separate ways, the commander following Genji, Hana following me.

"You seem pretty calm for someone who got their butt kicked." She said as we headed into the ammunition room, my gear stored there.

"Oh, do not take me wrong Hana. I am aware of my situation." I slid on the clothes that I had come into the facility with, the black gloves and brown coat over my shoulders somehow filling me with determination. The pendant on my neck gave me comfort as well. It felt like home, wherever that was. I grabbed the assault rifle, activated my visor, and looked to the girl beside me. "A few words that you have taught me could describe how I feel right now, and how I will handle this." I walked out of the room, heading back into the training area. The scenario was different. There were tall and low areas, all for good cover. I loaded up my weapon and cocked it back, grinning at the young girl. "I'm here to win, and no one is getting in my way."

She seemed happy by my choice of words, stuck two fingers out as a peace sign, and winking at me. "Give him all you got. Good luck!"

The commander left me and Genji alone in the training area. I watched a small room in the upper side of the area, seeing Hana and the commander watching us.
