Prologue~

(Picture of her parents on side:D)

My feet scraped against the sidewalk. I was walking home from my aunts house

with my sister, Katy. I looked up at her. Her face was emotionless. I

grabbed a tiny bit of cloth from her pant leg and tugged on it to get her

attention. She looked at me. "Kat?" I whispered. She looked up still

walking. "What do you want Lex?" She said with no emotion. "Whats wrong?"

She said nothing. So I just kept walking. When we got home, Mom and Dad were

sitting on the couch looking blankly into the fire.My 3 year-old mind told

me to hug them, so I did. My mother had tears running down her face, and

my father looked at me sadly. I smiled at him lovingly. I felt a whoosh, and

felt a  burning sensation building on my face. I was on the floor. He...?

He hit me...? I felt my face. Tears built up. My mind could not comprehend

this. I only just began to see things clearly. My eyes narrowed. But, what I

could comprehend what just happened. My father hit me. My mother and sister

didnt even flinch. I look at Katy. She looked at me, pain in her eyes. She

looked away. My father stood up and walked toward me. I backed away until my

head collided with the brick wall. He came up to me and put his finger under

my chin holding my head up. My tears had started to drop onto the tile floor.

"Don't cry, Alexis." He said. "This will only take a second." He took his

finger from my face and stood straight. I wanted to scream but held back.

He pulled out a knife and touched the sharp tip sending a light dribble of

blood running freely down his palm. I croaked out a sob.His head snapped

to me. My eyes flickered to my sister. Why isn't she protecting me? Like

usual? I saw a smudge walk slowly in the corner of my eye.My eyes trained

onto my father. The knife was held in ready position. I watched in horror

as he took the knife and cut deep into my left leg. I screamed the top of

my lungs, he put his hand over my mouth. His eyes meeting mine, he said,

"Shhh...." I felt warmth under me, soaking my pants, shoes, backpack and

palms in blood. Then My mother came out of nowhere and tackled him. I've never

seen her so fierce. "RUN!" Katy Pulled Me up off the ground running faster

than ever. But before we left, I could see my mother clumped over, looking

at me with dead eyes and covered in blood, my father stood over her,

grinning evily at me. I closed my eyes and sobbed.
