So one day, when we were in lunch, we started having some conversations. Then suddenly, I asked this question. "Why do we have these powers?"
"Maybe it's for some sort of prophecy," Meagan said. "As much as I love being part of a prophecy, I would doubt that. But...it would be fun," I said. "I could search it up in the library," Michael said. "I don't think we're allowed to do that," Brooke said. "I think the school might be blocking it." "Okay. Then I'll search it up at my house," Michael said. "Why don't we all go?" I asked. "I mean who knows? This might be really important."
"I get the feeling somebody's watching us," Austin said. "Why would they?" Daniel asked. "Well because...we have super powers. And so...somebody might be looking for us." We became silent. But then I said, "Well they certainly aren't doing a good job at it." "You're just saying that because you feel so cocky with your super speed," Sam said.
At that moment I ran behind her and said, "Yeah." I then started zipping back and forward saying, "Well. Maybe. I don't know. How would I know? This is fun." "Jacob stop! Somebody might be watching," Meagan said.
I looked around. Luckily, no one saw us. "Not really," I said. "Well let's not do the same thing that happened more than twice in the hallway when you keep running to class," Meagan said. "I love running to class. And also, I don't wanna be late." "Yeah well, you already knocked a bunch of people's stuff over," Brooke said. "Hey. I'm not the only one that gets in trouble. I mean, Austin gets in trouble more than the rest of us. I'm just trying to have fun." "Well geez Jacob," Austin said. "If that's a way on how you'll impress Meagan, I say you're doing a good job." I then quickly punched his arm. "Shut it!" I whispered in his ear.
Okay, I also admit it. I may have told Austin and Michael about me liking Meagan. But they swore not to tell Meagan. Or so Austin did.
"What was that?" Brooke asked. Meagan looked at me with a confused look. "Nothing. It's just...nothing," I said, glaring at Austin. "Anyway, lunch is almost over, I'm gonna go," Michael said. "I'll go too," Daniel said. "See you later," he said. "Bye," we said. Sam and Lauren got up too and left. So now it was just me, Austin, Brooke, and Meagan.
"So. Does anybody have any plans for after school?" I asked. They all shook their heads no. "We do now," I said. "We're gonna go to Michael's house, and find out why we have these powers." "I'll ask my parents if I can go," Meagan said. "Same here," Brooke said. "I know I'm going," Austin said. "Me too. And I'm running there," I said. "You run everywhere," Meagan said. "It's for exercise!" I said.
"How do your legs not get tired?" Brooke asked. "And how do you not get tired?" Meagan asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "And how fast is your heart after all that running?" Austin asked. "I don't know," I said looking down at my chest. I put my hand on it. It was at moderate speed. "It's moderate for now," I said. "I gotta get going anyway."
I then left the cafeteria. We were all gonna find out our parents. Prophecy or not.
