Chapter 34: pink and purple

Elena was so happy to be back in Gotham, she was so happy to be back in school and that's something she thought she would never say.

Her dad was finally home and was doing well. Things were finally looking up for Elena. She went through the school day without a bother but she couldn't find Damian. He was absent.

Which wasn't normal. Some days he would come in with a broken leg or arm and if it was anyone else they would have stayed at home but Damian took pride in his school attendance.

That evening Elena walked home with Stephanie. "Tim nor Damian weren't in today, I hope they're okay",Elena questioned. "Eh they're fine believe me",Stephanie rolled her eyes. "I heard they've been out for the past 3 days",Elena looked at Stephanie not believing her. "Look don't worry about those Wayne's they will always come out on top",Stephanie shoved Elena jokingly. "Fine I'll take your word for it",Elena laughed. "You seem close with the Wayne's",Elena said to Stephanie."haha I guess so",she smirked."Us scholarship students need to work at staying in this school everyone else gets it handed to them.",Elena sighed.

Stephanie looked half smiling. "Yeah about that..",she said nervously. "Whats wrong?",Elena said confused. "I'm not a scholarship student",Stephanie laughed nervously."WAIT WHAT?",Elena half shouted."shhhhh! You can't tell anyone!",Stephanie put her finger to Elena's mouth. "I didn't get the scholarship, Bruce pays for me.",she whispered.

Elena starred at her."why?how?",Elena was confused. Stephanie sighed."okay so I went for the scholarship but I got nervous going for it so Tim did it with me to make me feel more confident, but Tim got the scholarship instead of me and he felt so bad that Bruce funds me, but no one can know it's a secret and if anyone finds out the press will tear strips off Bruce",Stephanie whispered.

"I won't tell a soul",Elena swore."I knew I could trust you",Stephanie chuckled. "So on a happier note, you ready for fall ball",Stephanie said excitedly. "Oh yeah I think so",Elena smiled. "Elena remember this isn't your normal school dance you know that right?",Stephanie giggled. Elena looked at her"umm no what do you mean?",Elena said feeling stupid.

Stephanie shock her head. "Elena we go to Gotham academy, this dances is going to be like an actual ball with puffy dress , tuxedoes and classical music",Stephanie informed her."your kidding right?",Elena didn't look pleased. "What? you love puffy dresses and all that stuff you wear them while you play piano",Stephanie smiled.

Elena glared at her."I don't have a choice, it's a burden, when you play piano they expect you to wear dresses",Elena explained."so you hate dresses?",Stephanie looked at her."yes I hate them with a burning passion and now I have to find one within the next few days",Elena scowled. "Oh come on you must have one that you haven't worn.",Stephanie tried to look positive.

They reached the crossroads one way lead to Elena's estate the other to Stephanie's apartment block. "Why don't you show me your closet and I'll judge which one you should wear",Stephanie was trying to be helpful. "You won't find any but hey I'll get to show you my room",Elena shrugged and they both started walking towards Elena's house.

Elena's dad was at home with Sam sitting on his lap and they were watching a documentary on superheroes. "Hey el",her dad smiled as the 2 girls walked in."oh and you brought a friend",he seemed surprised but happy.

He turned his wheel chair around to face them, Sam's eyes were still glued to the TV. "This is Stephanie brown",Elena introduced her to her dad. He held out his hand to shake hers."nice to meet you Stephanie",he smiled at her. Stephanie was frozen her memory flashed to when Barbara was bound to a wheelchair.

The hell that they went through. Even though Barbara was okay now, the memory never went away.

Elena looked at Stephanie. "Hey you okay Stephanie?",Elena's dad asked worriedly. Stephanie knocked herself back into reality. "Oh I'm so sorry!its just my friend was in a wheel chair and just seeing one makes me feel weird",she laughed trying to wipe her eye and she shook his hand. "Oh don't worry about it! I totally understand",he smiled at her. "We will be upstairs if you need us",Elena said dragging Stephanie with upstairs." You okay?",Elena asked feeling bad."haha I should be asking you that",Stephanie said sadly.
