The Distance of Love

Chapter1: Camp

On a typically warm day August the 14th to be exact I recived a phone call from a friend asking me if she would like to go camping with her.Me being new in town did not know what to exspect from this trip I chose to accept the offer.But I didn't have many friends so this was my chance to make more.

I contemplated for a while on what to do to accept or not to accept. I finally came up with an answer for my friend on her question about the camping trip.

I decided to go on the trip.I had always loved camping and found it as a good way to get out of the house.Within the next day I would be heading to Pop's Lake campground for an enjoyable weekend with my friend Leah.Leah always was there for me when she needed a pick me up or just someone to laugh with we often times spent time together watching movies and talking about their love for anime or talking about the latest gossip in school usually who was dating who and who they thought would make the better couple if they were to get together within the year or their current crushes.

So the next day came and Leah and her mother and siblings all came to pick me up for who knew what would be the weekend of my life time. As I waited axiously to finnaly approch the camp ground for redneck weekend a annual weekend where all the campers could have fun.It was a hour long drive but it was well worth it in the end.We all made it to the campsite and Leah suggested that I should come with her down to the beach.

Next thing you knew Leah had convinced me to go down to the beach.As we neared the beach I became axious with anticipation of who I may meet me and Leah went swimming for a while and then the annual card board boat race began to happen and I meant three new people one I had known in elementary school.Their names were Jenna,Matthew and,Katie they were not related I had met Jenna in elementary school in Johnstown when I was living there and we became good friends over the years and she had not to long ago gotten into anime which I was a huge fan of and when we met again it was like a reunion for the ages we hugged we talked, laughed, and just got caught up with each other.The second one I had met was Katie a friend of Jenna's and she was into the same stuff I was into so we got along right off the bat and she became my friend.

As the race was almost about to begin I met Matthew a 16 year old boy with brown hair and blue eyes and as soon as we met we hit it off so well I couldn't beleive what was happening right before my eyes.As soon as he mentioned his love for anime and manga and pokemon I was hooked like a bass on a fishing line.

The race went on and even though Jenna and Katie's boat did not win the race we celebrated any way and then came time for the greasy watermelon relay where you have to be in teams of three and you have to carry a watermelon covered in grease through obstacles.And when time came to form teams my team Matthew,Leah and I, Leah would first grab the watermelon out of the water then pass it to me then I would hop over the box and then Matthew would return it to the water.When the whistle was blown Leah was off she gave the watermelon to me as I attempted to hop over the box with the large melon and just barely succeed I hand it to Matthew who returns it to the water we didn't win but we didn't care.

We all went swam after that.Then me and Leah headed to the field where the slip and slide was located Leah chose to go down it a few times but i prefered to stay where I was.Matthew then unexpectedly met us there. While Leah was on the slip and slide I sat and chatted with Matthew about Anime genres we liked,our drawing skills and so on and so forth we played a little mini golf and just started to get to know each other.We started out complete strangers and know we were talking to each other like we've been together forever.
It was getting cold so me and Leah decided to change into some warmer clothes back at the cite and that is when I spilled the beans to Leah that I liked Matthew I didn't want to admit it but i did and then Leah began commencing her plan to get us together we were back at the feild where we left Matthew waiting Leah grabbed her sketch book from the cite Matthew then ask Leah if he could barrow it and a pencial and then he asked if he could draw me as a anime charcter I agreed and he began to draw.I felt like rose in the the movie Titanic being drawn by Jack Dawlson.I was mesmerized when I looked into his beutiful blue eyes and then once he said okay Caitlin I'm done I snapped out of my trace I complimented him on his work and he thanked me.It was time to eat at the camp potluck .

Leah had gotten me a plate because I was too busy talking to Matthew to even worry about eating.We talked the night away and then when everyone decided to go to Katie's cite to chat as Matthew was walking with me and Leah to tell his parents where he was going I either tripped or I got pushed right into Matthew almost hitting the ground before he caught me after he caught me.The first words out of my mouth were"You're a lot nicer than my past three boyfriends."He didn't know how to react actually he acted a little nervous now and I thought to myself oh no I've lost all chances with him now.

We all made our way to Katie's and we all just sat talked and laughed about anything and everything.The subject of zodiac compatibility was brought up.And Leah asked me to check and see if mine and Matthews were compatible.With him being Capricorn and me being Gemini I looked and we weren't supposed to be compatible.I was extremely nervous while talking to him but everyone found it funny when I got up from my chair and my butt was wet.I really should have looked before I sat down.Everyone laughed for about a minute or two.But as Matthew began to chuckle even if it was slightly under his breath I found it cute.

When Matthew had to leave I was a bit bummed because I wanted to get to know him more.So I stayed at the cite with Leah and in a game of L.A.R.P.(live action role play).I died so many times I wanted to kill the game leader which was a boy named Devin.I didn't know I was going to die if I knocked on the tree.When the time came for me and Leah to leave which was midnight we went to the showers.When we got there I couldn't stop talking about Matthew as I got undressed I was told I don't know how many times by Leah to shut up about him.I kept talking until the water got cold and I screamed when it did.

Leah and I went back to the site set up our sleeping arrangements and I began talking about Matthew again little did I know I was falling for him I at first thought it was love at first sight but then I told myself no and feel asleep.That night I dreamed about him now if you show up in my dream you most likely are going to play a role in my future.Leah went down to the bathroom while I stayed at the site. And when Matthew passed by that morning I didn't even have the guts to say hello and I felt like a complete idiot at that point.
