Chapter 29: Valentine's Promise

   It's 2019 and it's Valentine's Day this marks the fourth year that Matthew and I have been each other's Valentine's. It was a very special day for him and I because we were exchanging gifts we had sent to each other. I got him a little red and black plush dog along with a romantic card complete with a little artificial rose which had a tint bear attached to it.
The symbolism behind the rose was
that I would love him until it does which it never will.
     On this Valentine's Day I had school and of course so did he so our days started off with our normal routine. Talk before school when we know we are both free than whenever through out the day. I had gotten out of school and everyone wanted me that day. My long time friend Mikayla was performing in the music festival at my school and she wanted me to come watch after school and chat with her. Which I did end up doing this for a little bit before I got a surprise from Matthew.
        While I was waiting for my friend to go on, I was texting Matthew like I do every day once I'm out of school. He told me that we were video chatting tonight to open our gifts to each other. This was of course a great surprise for me because I had wanted to do that in the first place. The only other problem was that Ariona wanted me to come over to her place and spend some time with her. This lead to the comprise of me video chatting while at Ari's.
                When I had finally got to Ari's and set everything up it was almost 5 o'clock or so. My laptop has horrible picture and audio quality so we chose to use Ari's laptop to video chat. The chat started and I was nervous because Matt sent his gift a week early so I had been anticipating what was in the package for a while. Matt and I just had a casual introduction and then we got to the gifts. His mother of course said Ladies open gifts first and I opened the package to see a card and a medium size silverish blue box. I took the box out of the package slowly knowing now that it was some sort of jewelry peice. I lifted the cover and there it stood in the box a silver heart shaped ring which I absolutely adore despite the fact that it didn't fit my finger I still wear it around my neck with a necklace chain. This was a gift that I had wanted for a year now and that was a promise ring. A promise ring means it's too early for a engagement but it will happen eventually.  When I opened the ring box I nearly cried tears of joy on my friend Ari I was so happy for it to finally happen, for him to do something that says to his paenets she is not leaving me and I am not leaving her. Essentially it engaged to be engaged.  His mother sent me a necklace with my birthstone which , I also love and would wear more often if it weren't for the jewelry rule at boces because I am in the culinary program.
       Then it came time for him to open my gifts and he wasn't as ecstatic about his as I was for mine. But he still loved the plush and the rose and thought my card was really sweet and so did his mom. I went home very happy and I flaunted the ring for days after I got it because I just couldn't resist.
