"come on jaebum, it's not that hard."

"says the top student."

at lunch, jaebum had somehow convinced youngjae to study with him after school and if jaebum hadn't been a pain in the ass before, he surely was now to youngjae.

they had been studying for almost two hours in the public library now and youngjae wanted to give up because his classmate seemed to be a complete basket case.

"you're not even making an effort to understand it, are you?" youngjae sighed.

"i am, you're just bad at explaining."

"yah, shut up!" the younger hit jaebum's shoulder, crossing his arms above his chest in annoyance.

"aish, sorry." jaebum rubbed his shoulder in pain. "let's take a break, yeah? i'll treat you something."

the boys were strolling through the streets looking for a nice place. it was after 6pm, meaning the sun was down already and seoul's streets were glowing.

"where do you wanna eat?" jaebum asked while walking with his hands in his pockets.

the brunette shrugged, "i don't mind." then he stopped in front of a chicken restaurant. "let's go there."

they sat down after ordering and the food came within five minutes,
considering the place wasn't very crowded.

as soon as they saw the deliciously smelling chicken in front of them they started munching on it like there was no tomorrow.

studying had been more exhausting than they thought, considering how hungry they got after only two hours and how worn out they felt.

youngjae had finished quickly but jaebum still had plenty of chicken on his plate since he was a slow eater.

"here, eat up." he pushed his plate to youngjae's who looked at him with big eyes.

"no, it's fine, i-" but jaebum insisted and to be fair, youngjae only said no out of politeness. he grabbed the next chicken wing and started champing again, smiling at his hyung as a way to say thank you.

jaebum watched him eat and for some reason it made him happy. youngjae looked so cute when he ate, his cheeks were chubby and his eyes sparkly.

"so", jaebum cleared his throat. "do you like messi?"

"what?" youngjae asked after swallowing the chicken he'd been chewing on.

"uh, you know.. the- i was just- nevermind." he felt his cheeks getting hot and prayed that youngjae wouldn't be able to see the pink shade on his face.

youngjae instead just smiled at him when he finished his, or more precisely jaebum's plate.

they got up and walked to the counter to pay but when youngjae pulled out his wallet, jaebum interrupted him.

"what are you doing? i told you i'm paying." he handed the cashier some money who smiled at the pair and told her to keep the rest.

"that was way too expensive." youngjae stated when they left the restaurant. "here, take this."

jaebum gently shoved his hand away. "i don't want it, youngjae. i told you it's my treat."

"but why should you treat me? it's not like this is a date?"

"would it be so bad if it was one?" jaebum dared to ask and again, he wanted to punch himself for saying the most awkward and cringeworthy things when it came to youngjae.

"w-what?" youngjae had no idea what jaebum was up to and didn't know if he liked the way he acted or not.

"you helped me with math and i bought you dinner, so it's technically a study date." jaebum explained. "would it be that horrible?"

youngjae shook his head when he felt jaebum looking at him.

"which way are you heading? i can take you home if you want to." jaebum offered but youngjae kindly declined.

"it's alright, i live just around the corner." he explained, pointing behind his back with his thumb.
"i'll see you tomorrow, yeah? get home safely."

"you too." jaebum smiled. "bye."
