Day Thirteen

"Me too."

When he said those words, your heart broke a little. It was almost as if he was confirming the fact that he was not happy at this very moment, and that upsets you. You want him happy. You want him more than happy.

How can you make him happy when you don't even know how? You have no idea who this girl is, or if she could make him happy in the first place.

"[Y/n]... are you sleeping?" Seven asks through the phone, and you realize that you never hung up and were lost in your thoughts.

"Ah, no no. I'm awake," you mumble, snuggling further into the blankets and Elizabeth Third.

"Do you want me to hang up?" You pause for a moment. Do you want him to hang up? You enjoy talking to him, and you don't really want to stop. But it's also late, and you're tired.

But Jumin is gone, and you're feeling lonely. Not that you'd ever cheat on him with Seven -or that you were even thinking it- but you want to talk with someone, to make sure that someone's there and that you're not alone. After Seven's bedtime story, you feel sad. You feel emotional, and although someone being emotional after midnight usually isn't a good thing, you also don't want to be alone.

"No. We can keep talking for a little while longer... if that's okay with you, of course," you quickly add the last part. You don't want to keep him up, or force him to keep you company.

"It's fine with me," he says, and accidentally lets out a yawn. "But you shouldn't stay up too late, okay?"

"Okay."

"And I'm not telling another story."

"Okay."

"And you should put Elly on the phone."

"Oka- she's asleep, Seven."

"Oh, so you're with her? At Jumin's?" That explains why you hadn't come home to your apartment.

"Yes, I am. I'm watching her," you explain, but leave out the other reason why you're there. Despite Jumin not being there with you, somehow being in his home and wearing his shirt filled with his scent makes his absence less unbearable. It's better than being alone in your apartment, at least.

"Oh, nice." He didn't know what to think -or say- when you confirmed his suspicions of you staying at Jumin's. He's relieved that you're safe, of course, but Jumin's? God, he thought he could keep this in, but even with the cat-lover gone, you were still 100% in love with someone other than himself.

And he is not confident he will ever get you back with Jumin in the picture. Who would have thought that he would be basically begging for a reset? Well, he is, and he's so desperate for something to happen.

"So how was your day..."

Seriously, anything will satisfy him as long as he doesn't have to feel this way anymore: so...so jealous and anxious and straight up depressed (but honestly, before this whole reset situation had even started he was already feeling the latter two).

But what in the world could make these feelings go away?

Before he knew it, your slow breaths were heard over the phone, and you had fallen asleep. You didn't even talk long before you were out like a light.

"Ah, so you're asleep...Goodnight, [y/n]," he whispered through the phone, despite knowing you couldn't hear him.

He didn't know exactly when you fell asleep, but it must have been during the around seven minutes of silence there was between the two of you. He was so lost in his thoughts and in his emotions that he didn't even notice how tired you were until you had already fallen asleep.

"...I love you."

The intense amount of love he felt for you was overwhelming him, and for some reason, telling his feelings to your unconscious self made him feel slightly better. Not that he could ever tell you in person -or even while you're awake- but he is satisfied.

"But you don't remember me."

He is satisfied only for a moment though because then it hits him once again just how far away you were from him- how far your feelings were from him. But, if you were meant to be wouldn't you feel something towards him? Even a tiny bit of more-than-friends feelings? But you don't.

"Then I guess we aren't meant to be."

But what he didn't know was that you were actually conscious the whole time, hearing every bit of his confession. And when he finally hung up, you were left even more confused than before.
