Actually I lied before. There is a pretty long chapter left lmao and also this is the last chapter, then an epilogue type of thing :(((

Day Twenty-Six

That day, you finally found the courage to face Seven. Deciding it's best to meet at Rika's apartment, you wait patiently until he shows up at your door when he starts knocking to a strange beat. You open it up and both your eyes widen once you see each other's faces.

"[y/n]," he breathes, instantly feeling relieved to be able to see you again. "How... how are you?"

"I'm.. better," you admit, awkwardly rubbing the side of your crossed arm.

"I'm glad," he says and sighs as if that tiny bit of information lifted so much off his shoulders. "Slightly upset that you never once called for God Seven, but I don't hold grudges or anything."

"Or maybe I did, and it just wasn't that .0001% chance of you appearing. How disappointing," you joke, and he laughs. Him laughing makes you happy, and you didn't realize how much you missed it.

Seeing him again makes your mood brighten more and more the longer you talk with him. He's always known how to cheer you up, and it's one of the things you love about him.

"I-"

"Are-"

"Sorry, you can go first," he says, and you giggle but are curious of what he was going to say.

"No, no. You can," you say, and he takes a deep breath before smiling at you.

"I'm just happy you're doing better. I haven't seen or talked to you lately," he says and rubs the back of his neck. "I've had no one to tell my eventful life-story to. Who was interested, at least, because Mary is never interested in my stories, but I still tell her them."

You forget to breath for a moment when he talks about storytelling. You instantly think back to when he first told you he loved you, and a blush slowly crept up your face at the thought. You desperately want to hear him say those words again, but is it the right moment? Too soon?

"Are you okay? Do you have a fever or something?" he asks, noticing your reddening face. You immediately start shaking your head and deny.

"I'm fine, really," you say, giving a small smile. "I was just thinking back to your last story, and how much I loved it."

Then, it's his turn to get red in the face.

"U-um, yeah, it was definitely something," he mumbles and, for some reason, avoids your eyes. Is he embarrassed? "You probably don't remember the whole thing, though. I guess, it wasn't as action-filled as I'd planned. Kinda boring."

"No! I remember it all!" you admit, but then bring your voice down a few notches when you realize you accidentally got too loud. "I-I mean, it was memorable. A-and when you mentioned it was a true story, I was intrigued."

"Yeah, it really happened alright," he says, forcing out a laugh, and you regret bringing the topic up again. He mentioned how he wished he had done things differently, and you can tell he's still upset about it.

You desperately want to tell him that it's okay and that you love him still, but no words come out.

"L-Luciel?" you say, closing your eyes as you try and think of the words to say.

"Yes?"

"I- I have a confession to make," you admit, slowly bringing your eyes up to his curious ones. "I...um."

He is silently praying your confession is about your feelings - towards him. "Yes?" He feels bad for pushing you to talk, but he is so hopeful about what you're going to say.

"I...I heard you," you finally confess, not taking your eyes away from his. "I heard you... over the phone," you explain.

"You.. what?" He is suddenly worried. What did you hear?

"I heard you saying you loved me," you continue, and you want to yell at yourself for chickening out again. You had full intentions on confessing your love to him, but ended up bringing up him in middle of the night talking to himself. "I know I'm the girl who forgot."

"Haha, what? No, no way. There's no con-connection," he fumbles over his words as he tries to deny the truth.

"L-Luciel, you were talking right to me while I was sleeping -well, I wasn't really sleeping- but I heard," you say, and he avoids your eyes. "Y-you said 'I love you, but you don't remember me,' or something like that. I.. I just wanted to tell you, um, that I know now." That I love you too.

"Fuck, this is so embarrassing," he says, lowly, but forces out a laugh. You watch him as he anxiously looks anywhere but toward you. "Please- please don't pity me or anything. I... won't deny what you're saying. But...fuck, I don't even know what to say."

"I-it's okay," you say softly. "I'm sorry if I hurt you. I really am."

"Haha, no no. I-I wasn't hurt or anything. God Seven doesn't.. get hurt."

"Oh." You don't know what to say. You're glad he isn't hurt, but does that mean his feelings have disappeared? "I-I'm happy you're okay." All of your confidence left when you see that he seems completely unaffected.

"I'm totally alrighty," he says, giving you a thumbs up, trying to brighten the mood. He is only saying these things because he doesn't want you to think of him any differently or treat him any differently. Because, hell, is he still hurting. But, he can't tell you this.

Until you say something that catches him off guard.

"B-but I'm not."
