*Braxton's P.O.V.*

After my visit with Kylee, I knew that there was something seriously wrong with her.

Other than the obvious, of course.

The Kylee I knew was hopeful and kind, but the Kylee I just talked to was bitter and in despair. She didn't look like herself, and she certainly didn't act like herself. It was strange to see that side of her, but then again, I don't think that that was her at all.

I got on the elevator with my head down. When it binged on the first floor, I looked up to get out. The doors opened and a small lady was standing in front of me, a brown paper sack in her hand that I recognized from the cafeteria.

I gave her a polite nod and stepped out of the elevator, making room for her. As I started walking away, I heard her speak.

"Hello! May I ask you a question?"

I turned around to see her standing expectantly, the elevator doors closing behind her. Looking at her more closely, I could see deep lines of weariness and sadness etched on her face. Her clothes were creased and worn, but her eyes were bright.

"How can I help you?" I asked politely, taking a few steps towards her.

She gave me a small smile. "I'm so sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could help me with something? You see, my daughter has been having a hard time and it really lonely,"  she said, looking at me earnestly. "She doesn't say it, but I know that she could really use some company right now with someone who isn't her mother. And I know that this is a really strange request, but I recognize you from her high school, I think."

There was a moment of silence, followed by her quick voice again.

"I'm sorry, that's such a weird request. Especially from someone you don't know. I'll just leave now. Have a good rest of your day," she said, turning back towards the elevators again.

"Wait," I called out. "Sure, I can help."

She turned around again, a shining smile on her face. "Oh, would you? It doesn't have to be for long, she's a really sweet girl and I think that you will get along great."

I shrugged and followed her to the elevator. I didn't know who this girl was, but if I could help someone I wanted to at least try. Kylee obviously didn't want my help.

As we rode the elevator, the lady went on and on about her daughter. It was clear that she loved her very much. Her daughter was very lucky to have her as a mom.

When we reached the right floor, we got off and I followed her to the right room. We passed room after room, each one with someone who needed a little love. We stopped at one of them.

"What do you want now?" Kylee said, her tone hard and cold.

yo what's up

ok i was reading over and realized that i changed kylee's last name like 3 times in 3 chapters, and changed the description of braxon several times, and a mulitude of other dumb mistakes that a 14 year old makes. my deepest apologies.

this story that i made up has been so incredible- all of you guys are so incredible. it's always been my dream to be an author, but as i got older that dream was crushed by the fear of failure. this story gave me the courage to pursue my dream. now i'm at byu (just finished my first year!) and am an English major with a double minor in creative writing and editing. hopefully i'll be able to live that dream of being an author. granted, this story isn't very good and has a million flaws, but it's something that i tried and something that (by my account) succeeded. i mean, 22,000 reads??? that's INSANE. i can't thank all of you enough.

ok, enough with the sappy stuff.

you know what to do ;)
