[Julia's past]

It was the last day of school, and all the boys and I wanted to do was just play football. We didn't get that much work because our teacher, Mr. BigChin wanted to go home as much as we did. That's not his real name, but it's really funny to say.

"Alright, since this is the last day a school we ago have fun." he said.

I could tell he didn't care because he was on his phone until class was over. As soon as the bell rang we went racing through the door. Since my house had the most field in my little neighbourhood we usually did football there.

"You guys spread out into yuh position." Tahmar said.

He was always so eager with everything he did, but that's what we love about him. We got in position and started to play. After a couple of rounds, we got tired so I went inside my little house to get some filtrated water.

When I came inside, I saw my mama. She was in her bed and papa was over her feeding her and checking her temperature.

"Papa, what happin to mama?" I came to her to feel her temperature.

"One disease is going round and yuh mama ketch it." dad answered.

I couldn't believe what my dad just said, so I stood there speechless.

"She go alright?" I managed to ask feeling really worried.

"Yea, one a de nurse them from New Yark a come fi look at her tomarrow." he said assuring me.

I was really relieved. Then my mama woke up and stared at my papa then at me.

"Julia.....come here." She said and immediately I went to her.

"Yes mama?" I was willing to do anything for her.

"Like how the disease a go round,yuh have to stay inside." she was holding my hand and breathing heavily.

"Mama, don't worry about mi,what important is if yuh take some rest." I kissed her hand and laid it on her belly.

"Alright tell you friends them bye and get ready fi dinner." she said.

Since my mom was clearly sick,I did whatever she told me to,so that she wouldn't get a headache.

Twenty minutes later

After I finished taking a bath, I went ahead to eat dinner. My dad had to do all the cooking since mom was so sick. I was eating dinner. My favourite food actually chicken 'n' buffet. It is a special dish my mom and I came up with. Its sweat & sour chicken and white cheese and chopped up salad in a spice bread rolled up. I ate it in my little room because we ain't got no table. I carried mom's dinner to her and I helpfully cut her buffet. I would do anything for my mom. Because she would do anything for me. She was my first best friend and dad was the second. I could always talk to her.

"Thank you June. You are always willing to help me." Obviously that was true.

"You know it mom and I will always help you." when I said that my papa came in and was giving my mom some water.
