-James' POV-

I'm sitting on a roof of a big building in the city, looking down at the earthlings. They are so stressed, in such a hurry, like they late for something. Weird. Is this how a city looks like in the morning? Is this how the cities in Solniana look like?

"James?" I hear behind me, but I don't look and keep looking down. "James, I need to talk with you." She says sitting down next to me. "They told you." "Yes, they did. I'm sorry for what happened." I look at her. "Don't be sorry. I need to be sorry, I should have told them, but I just couldn't do it." "Why not?" "Because what happened in the past." "Because of Airini?" "Yes." "What did happen? Your siblings told me that you never told them." "I didn't want them to know what happened. They would see me differently." "Please tell me." She says taking my hands and holding them. I look at our hands and then in her eyes.

"When I was young Airini was my everything. She was my best friend, since we met. When we grew older, she was my light in my life. I never liked being royal, all the press, I never liked it. But when I saw her, I was happy. Everyone liked her, when she smiled, she made everyone happy. She was an angel, living with us." I say and look at the sky.

"The older I got, the more I liked her. I even developed a crush on her. I never told anyone, not even her." I then look down. "On my twelfth birthday, she didn't show up. I was very worried because I had seen her the day before and she was very excited for my birthday party. So I asked my mom if I could go to her house. She told me that I could go, but she came along with some guards. When I was at her house, I saw her. She was very pale. I didn't get the chance to talk to her because my mom didn't want me to stay with her.

When we returned to the castle, my mom told me that she has send the best healers to Airini. It was late so I had to go to bed. But I didn't sleep, I waited. I knew that the healers would come to see my mom to say if they were able to safe her or not. So, when I heard them, I sneaked out of my room and went downstairs to my mom and the healers. They told her that they couldn't heal her and that only the best healer would be able to. I was still young, but I knew that they meant me. A royal is always the best in the power he or she has. My power is healing, so I knew that I was the only one that could save my best friend."

"What happened when you were with her?" Rose asks me. "When I was in her room, she tried to smile. She didn't look good. She was even paler; her light blonde hair was a mess and her beautiful grey eyes only showed pain. I told her that I was going to try to save her and I changed in my powerful form. I lifted my arms up and pointed my palms to her, but she stopped me. She... She told me... that she didn't want me to heal her." "She didn't? Why not?" Rose asks curious. "She told me that Serea had a reason to make her sick and if She wanted her to die, then no one should stop it." "So she wanted to die?" Rose asks confused. I look at her. "Yes she did. She asked me if I... if I..."

Rose looks at me worriedly. "You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to. I can see clearly that you're hurting." "I need to tell you; you need to understand." "Okay, if you really want to." I take a deep breath. "Airini asked me if I could kill her." Rose puts her hands on her month and then she hugs me. "That must have been horrible!" "I did it." She stops hugging me and looks at me. "What?" I look her in the eyes. "I killed her, I killed my best friend."

Rose looks at me with a mix of shock, compassion and sadness. "I'm sorry for what I did to you. But I didn't want to go through the pain of losing someone that I love again and somehow I thought that keeping my distance from you would make me feel better. But it didn't, I felt worse." I say to her and then look down. "I'm not going to ask you to forgive me, but please try to understand." "James, look at me." She says to me which makes me look at her. "I understand why you did it, but you need to understand why I was mad." "I do; you have all right to be mad."
