Chapter twenty-two (Epilogue)

-Jack's POV-

It's been almost two years since Ryan left with Ella and her family. I have to say, it's been very lonely without them, but I'm happy that they're happy. At least, I hope they are. I don't know, I have no news.

"Are you even listening?" Laure whispers which makes me look at her. "Huh?" "I take that as a 'no'." She says and looks back at her father. We're in the woods. Since our 'guests' are gone, the citizens became more and more interested in protecting nature in the city. That's why Uncle decided to place some benches in the woods, plants some more trees and of course to help the animals by feeding them in the winter. I look back at Uncle and listen to his speech until a light appears which makes us all look at it.

When the light disappears, we see Jason. "Jason? What are you doing here?" I ask him. He looks at me and walks to me. "I need a hospital." He says to me sounding very hastily. "Why? Are you wounded?" Laure asks him. "No, it's Maria." He answers. "Maria? What happened?" Maria's mother asks as she and her husband walk towards him. -They are here because they payed for a lot of the changes in the city-. "Doesn't matter, where is the hospital?" Jason asks hastily. "What happened?" Maria's father asks worried. "Can you just tell me where it is?" Jason asks, losing his patience.

"Is she hurt?" Maria's father asks him. "No, she..." He starts but stops. "Well, it's going to hurt..." He continues, which makes us all look at him shocked. "What happened? Did you hurt her?" Maria's mother asks him. "I didn't...Well... I sort of did." He answers sounding confused. "You hurt her!?" Her parents ask at the same time. "You make me confused!" Jason replies and looks at the sky. His eyes light up a bit, then he looks back at them. "You'll understand when you see Maria." He says to them.

A light appears and when it disappears, we see Maria, with a very big belly. "Maria, are you pregnant?" Her mother asks shocked. "I'm in the middle of giving birth actually." Maria answers which makes us all look at her shocked. "Maria told me that you Earthlings give birth in hospitals, so I decided to take her back here. So, can you tell me now where it is?" Jason says to us. "Yes of course!" Her mother answers. "Great, so who wants to teleport with me? I can only take one person with me." Jason says to us. "But what about Maria?" I ask him. "Maria? She can take care of herself, she'll just follow me. I just need someone who thinks where it is so I can teleport to it. Maria knows where it is, but as you can see, she's not really able to think about it." He says and then looks at me.

"You'll come with me." "Me?" I ask him. "Yes, you. You're the person that I sort of trust." He answers. "Sort of?" I ask. "Yeah, people say that I've trust issues... Anyway, let's go." He says and changes in his powerful form. He looks at Maria and we're surprised to see her change in a powerful form too. "You can change too?" I ask her. "Yeah, she can. It was a big surprise for us. Serea told us that she's able to do that because she's my mate now." Jason answers in Maria's place. "You're mates?" Maria's father asks. "Yes we are. I asked her to become my mate on our last day here." "Really?" Her mother asks. "Jason..." Maria says. "Oh right. Let's go." He answers and looks at me. "Think about the hospital." I nod and think about it. "Close your eyes." Maria says to me to which I respond by closing my eyes.

-Jason's POV-

After Maria gave birth to our baby, her parents walked in the room. "Hey mom, hey dad." Maria says to them. "Maria, are you alright?" Her mother asks her. "I'm fine, just a bit weak." She answers. "I told you that you should have drank James' potion." I say to her. "It was grey and it smelt like dirt." She says looking at me. "It's supposed to be a potion to give you the strength you need, not a drink." I say to her. "So, where is our grandson or granddaughter?" Her mother asks us. "Granddaughter." Maria says to them while I take her out of her crib. "This is Kaylee." I say to them.

"Congratulations." The king says when he and his family enter the room. "Don't worry, we'll leave tonight." I say to him. "Why didn't you take Maria to a hospital on your planet?" The queen asks me. "Because on Solniana, women don't go to the hospital to give birth." "Then where do they do it?" The mother of Jackson asks. "In their house, with their mate with them." I answer and look back at Maria. "But she didn't tell me that Earthlings are pregnant for just nine mouths." I say which makes Maria smile. "How long are woman on Solniana pregnant?" Lauretta asks me. "A year." I answer her.

"How are the others?" Jackson asks. "I was wondering when you would ask that." I say to him and hand Kaylee over to Maria. "Lucy and Garrett have a laboratory and they do some stuff that I don't understand. They have a son, he's a bit older than a year. James and Rose became mates a few months after we returned. James works in a hospital which is quite logical and Rose is a teacher for future guards. They have a son too, but he's a bit younger than a year." I say and look back at him. "So we are the only ones with a daughter." Maria says to them. "Now we are, but Ella will get a daughter." I say to her. "How are you so sure?" "Well, she is the queen and the heir is always a woman." "Not always." Maria says to me. "The last man was 200 years ago, I'm pretty sure that she'll get a daughter. Besides, the queen has often more than one child." I say to her.

"And Ryan? Is he happy?" Jackson asks us. "I think he is, we don't speak to him." I answer. "He is happy, when I see him, he's always smiling." Maria says to Jackson. "That's good to hear." Jackson says smiling. "He enjoys being king and he likes Solniana." Maria says to him while she puts Kaylee in her crib. "Who doesn't like Solniana?" I ask her smiling and look back at him. "He's going to be a dad soon." "He is? That's amazing!" Jackson says happily. "Can you tell him that we're happy for him?" Jackson's dad asks us. "Of course, we'll say it to them when we see him." Maria says to them.

"I wonder if they're going to have a boy or a girl." I say to Maria which makes her look at me. "I hope a girl, then she can play with Kaylee." She says while she smiles. "I told you that that won't happen. Nobody is allowed in the castle except for the royal family." I say to her which makes her smile disappear. "She is family." "Only the queen, her mate and their children are the royal family." "I know." She says and sighs deeply. "I just don't like the idea of them being separated from their family, they're even separated from the whole planet. It's just so lonely." "I know, we just have to hope that they'll have more than one child, then they'll have each other." I say to her.

She suddenly throws her blanket away and stands up. "What are you doing?" I ask as I stop her. "I'm getting off this bed and we're going back to Solniana." She answers. "No, you're not. You need to rest." "I can rest in our house. Let's go." "Maria..." "Jason... You and I both know that I always win these kinds of arguments. So, let's go." She says as she takes Kaylee back out of her crib. "Maria..." She changes in her powerful form. "Are you going to change too?" She asks sounding innocent. I change in my powerful form which makes her smile. "I always win." "When we're home, you're going to lie down in our bed and rest." I say to her to which she nods in respond. I take the little device Garrett gave me and press on the button. "What's that?" Maria asks. "This is something Garrett gave me; with this I can tell him that we're ready to leave." I answer.

"So, you're already leaving?" Her father asks her. "You just got here." Her mother says sounding sad. "Yeah, sorry mom and dad, but I really don't like it here. And I want to show Kaylee to all my friends." She says smiling. "Maria..." "Okay, just a few." "When we're home, you're going to rest, nothing else." "Yeah I will." "Promise me." She sighs deeply and looks at me. "I promise that I'll rest a day." "More than one day." "You're no fun." She says which makes me smile at her. Suddenly a bright light appears. "My eyes!" I hear Maria yell which makes me smile even wider. When the light disappears, we're back on Solniana. "Let's go home." I say to her to which she responds by nodding.
