I surveyed my new surroundings. James has done me proud! I thought. My new ship was small, but speedy. My new crew was hard-working, and they didn't ask me any difficult questions.
But what I liked best about my new ship was the brig. The cells were cramped and impossible to get out of.
Although, with Sparrow, I got the feeling anything was possible...
I decided to go and see what he was up to.
I crept silently down the stairs to the brig, and caught Sparrow attempting to pick the lock.
"Aha!" I exclaimed. "I thought you might try something."
"Pearl," Jack said, pleadingly. "Would ya be so kind to explain to me just what ye're up to?"
I grinned. "Sparrow, you're incredibly naive. Ever heard of the Ice Queen?"
He tilted his head on one side and considered. "The bounty hunter?"
"The bounty hunter. She's me. Or, rather, I'm her."
He closed his eyes for a second. "Ye can't be..." he said.
"I am. My name isn't Pearl Turner. I don't have a brother. And when we get to Port Royal, I'm going to hand you over to Beckett and get the reward money. Think about that."
He looked down at the floor. "It won't be so easy, y'know..." he said, sneeringly.
As if on cue, there came a roar and a crash.
"Cannon fire!" I yelled. "All hands on deck!" I ran up the stairs and on deck. "Jump to it! Hoist the sail!"
I whipped out my telescope and focused it on a huge ship. "The Black Pearl," I groaned.
"Told you it wasn't going to be so easy, love."
I turned round. "Sparrow. You escaped."
I felt like turning the ship round and sailing back home, but I didn't. I rather liked a challenge, and Sparrow was certainly a challenge.
I turned back to my crew. "We can't out run her, she's too fast. And we can't send her down to the depths, because she's more powerful. The only way to get rid of her is to give her what she's after."
"You're giving me back to them?” Sparrow looked shocked.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm calling for a volunteer to do something very dangerous!" I yelled. "Come on, boys!"
Slowly, one man put up his hand.
"Thanks, Taylor," I flashed him a smile. "Alright. Someone get me a sack. Sparrow, I want you to take off your boots, your trousers, your shirt, all your clothes, jewellery, everything."
Sparrow obeyed moodily.
"Taylor. Put Sparrow's clothes on," I ordered.
Taylor obeyed.
"Alright. Jones, put the sack over Taylor's head, loosely, mind, make sure he can breath. Milton and Smith and Harvey. Get hold of Sparrow, tie him up tight as you can, lock him in the brig and keep a constant guard on him."
Milton, Smith and Harvey dragged Sparrow down the stairs. I hoped the three of them would be enough to keep him imprisoned.
"Right, Taylor," I said, to the man in the sack. "My thanks, compliments and good wishes." I held my pistol to his head. "Now, wait 'til the Black Pearl gets close to us..."
