Today's the day. Graduation. I've waited for this day all my life. I finish my makeup and slide the robe on very carefully. I'm so excited. I already know what college I'm going to and my boyfriend is going with me. Things couldn't get any better.
"C'mon we have to go!" I grab my things and run down stairs, almost falling on the last one.
"Hey baby." I kiss David's cheek and we walk out to the car. Today is just perfect.
"So, I was thinking, instead of going to a party after graduation, I take you out for a fancy meal." He puts his hand on top of mine.
"I would love that."
~2 hours later~
"Linda Roberts." I here my name called and walk towards the stage. Shaking my principal's hand, I look at the crowd and wait for my picture to be taken. Soon enough, my mom and dad's flash goes off and I walk towards my seat. I did it. I graduated. I'm officially out of high school.
When graduation's over, David and I go our separate ways to talk to our family's. My mom runs toward me and gives me a huge hug, with tears in her eyes. I have a huge smile on my face.
"Honey! I'm so proud of you! Oh! You're all grown up." Now I have tears in my eyes. My dad gives me a tight hug and I hear him sniffle.
"I'm gonna miss you baby girl." I feel tears slip my eye.
"I'm gonna visit. You're not gonna lose me forever." He nods and walks towards the car. Probably bawling like a baby. My mom gives me one last hug and leaves.
"Ready?" I turn around and see David.
"I always am." With that we walk towards his car and head to Olive Garden.
~The next day~
I wake up and the other side of the bed is empty. I guess David had to use the bathroom or whatever. I get up and rub my eyes. Last night was perfect. I couldn't imagine anything better.
"David?" I yell. I don't hear a response. Must not have heard me. I pull on some of his basketball shorts, which are kinda baggy on me, and walk down the hall.
"David? Hello?" Still no answer. Huh. That's weird. I check the living room and he's not in there. Where else could he be? I walk towards the bathroom and hear a creak.
"BOO!" I jump and scream.
"David! I swear you gave me a heart attack." I say as I start laughing. Tears fill my eyes and he hugs me from behind.
"Where were you?" I see a huge scratch on his arm. "What happened?"
"Nothin'. Some crazy guy tried to attack me when I went to check the mail. Don't worry, one of the neighbors helped me and I called the police. It's all taken care of." I drag him to the bathroom and start to treat it.
"David, you're hot." He smiles.
"Why thanks. So are you." I laugh.
"You are, but I'm not talking about that. You're burning up." I feel his head and it feels like a furnace. "I'm calling the hospital."
He shrugs it off and walks into the kitchen. The phone rings, but no one answers. That's weird. They always have someone working the phone. I try again, but the phone cuts off.
"Hey, David! Did we forget to pay the phone bill!"
"No! I paid it last week! Why!" Instead of yelling, I just walk into the kitchen.
"Because it's not working." He shrugs again. I hate when he does that. He's always shrugging.
"I'll call the phone company later on my cell. Don't worry." I roll my eyes and go grab some clothes to take a shower. Hopefully the hot water calms my nerves. I'm so frustrated. He paid the bill last week and our phones are only 3, maybe 4 months old. This is ridiculous. The water feels great. It's scorching hot, but I like it that way.
I look at my fingers and they're like raisins. No, worse than raisins. Time to get out. I shut the water off and wrap a towel around my body. My clothes fall off the counter onto the wet floor.
"Shit." I curse. Now I have to walk down the hall in nothing but a towel. Better run for it. The door creaks loudly when I open it and I hear foot steps. Crap. David heard me. I step out and hear the footsteps thumping. Is he running? I look to my left and see David standing at the end of the hallway with blood dripping from his eyes and mouth.
"David! Oh my God!" I drop my wet clothes and run towards him. "David! Get in the car. I don't care what you say, I'm taking you to the-"
He tackles me to the floor. His teeth are so close to my neck now. It's almost like he's trying to bite me.
"David stop!" I wrestle under him and when all else failed, I kneed him in the crotch.
"David what's your problem!" He gets up on his feet and starts sprinting towards me. I run back into the bathroom and lock the door. He's banging on it and I think he might break it. Looking for an exit, I spot the window. It's small, but so am I. It's my only chance. I grab a bunch of stuff and stack it up. I hear a loud smash and turn around only to see that David put a hole in the door and start working on another one. I hoist myself up and start climbing through the window. I forgot how high up we are and fall with a loud thud. My back feels like it hit a brick wall.
"Ow.." I whine. When I look around, All I see is fire, people screaming, and people eating other people. I start crying and get up, brushing the dust off of me. What's going on?
