Linda's POV
"Wake up." I feel someone poking my nose and suppress a smile. "Come on Linda baby. Wake up." I hear David beg. I open up one eye and giggle.
"I'm awake." He leans down and kisses my forehead, then my nose, and then my lips. It's not a passionate kiss. It's more of a friendly kiss.
"I have a special day planned for us." He grabs my hand and pulls me out of bed. I groan and walk over to our shared closet.
"What outfit should I wear?"
"Something casual. It doesn't matter. You're beautiful no matter what." He kisses my cheek and walks out of the room, giving me time to change. I decide on a white tank top, a green flannel, and my old , ripped skinny jeans.
I walk out of our room and into the kitchen. David's leaning against the counter dressed in blue jeans and a green flannel. "I guess we're that couple now." I joke. He looks at me and then down at his shirt.
"Wow. So are you ready?"
"Definitely."
I wake up sweating and breathing hard. I wipe my hand across my forehead and try to slow my breathing. When I look around I notice I'm still in the truck and Issac is laying beside me, his arms wrapped tightly around my waist. I can feel my heart speed up. I gently unwrap his arms from around me and move as far away as I can. The thought of being with someone other than David right now is sickening. No matter how much I might like the other person.
Grabbing my clothes off of the floor, I open the truck's door quietly, but it still creaks. Issac doesn't look bothered so I jump out and softly close it behind me. After I get dressed, something shiny catches my eye. I look down at my hand and notice the promise ring David gave me on my birthday last year. I'm betraying him. I'm wearing the ring he got me and I've been with two guys. I pull the ring from my finger and stuff it into my pocket. I need to stop thinking about him. He's not here anymore. Yeah because you left him in your house and didn't even try to help him. My subconscious spits at me. I ignore the thought and start walking. I can't be with Issac. I can't be with anyone. Not right now, but maybe in the future we can be. I smack myself in the head. I'm leaving. Of course we'll never be together now.
I turn around and start walking back toward the truck, but I turn around again walking away from it. "Get ahold of yourself Linda." I say and smack my face. I keep turning, trying to make a decision, but my heart wants to stay with Issac, but my brain says it's not right. Finally, I turn and stalk towards the truck. When I'm halfway there, I hear tires screech and turn around. A group of men run towards me and grab my arms and legs, pulling me towards their car.
"Let me go! Issac! Issac help!" They throw me into the back seat and I try to climb out, but one of the men grabs my hands and cuffs them together and then shoves a rag into my mouth. Another one jumps in on the other side, so now I'm stuck between two smelly guys. I jump up and put my face towards the back glass. The last thing I see is Issac running towards the car, screaming something inaudible.
I scream his name, but no one could understand me. The car speeds off and one of the men hits me in the back of the head. Everything goes black.
Issac's POV
I hear Linda screaming and jump out of the truck, expecting to see zombies, but I see men dragging her off and throwing her into a car. "Linda!" I shout and start sprinting towards the car. I see her face through the back glass. There's something shoved in her mouth, but I can tell she's screaming.
"Linda! Hold on! I'm gonna get you back!" I get to the car, but it speeds off. I see a man hit Linda and she falls down into the seat. That was the last thing I saw. I fall to my knees, out of breath from running, and feel tears spilling over my face. I feel like a piece of my heart just got ripped out. Like I'm half empty. I look down at the ground and notice a ring laying in the gravel. I recognize it instantly. Linda always wore it. I pick it up gently and turn it over in my fingers. "Linda." I whisper. Hugging the ring close to my chest, I rise to my feet and slowly walk back towards the truck.
"I'm gonna get you back. I promise." I jump in the truck, turn the key, and press down on the gas, speeding after the car. They can't get too far.
