Issac and I each have a backpack carry pistols while Hunter and Wain have knives. We refuse to give them a gun until they earn our trust. They're lucky enough to be given any weapons at all. I watch Hunter as he sheathes his knife.

We've been driving for forever it feels, but it's only been a few hours. We left just when the sun was overhead. Hunter and Wain  are seated between us. Issac and I have our guns in our holsters. I'm pretty sure if Hunter and Wain decided to turn on us, they wouldn't do it in a moving vehicle. It would be risking their lives as well as ours. Even if they do try anything, Issac can take them down. I just hope it doesn't have to come to that. I give the handle of my knife a squeeze, reassuring myself that it's still there.

Issac is the first to talk. "Not too long now. We should be there soon. You guys know what to look for?"

Wain and Hunter both mutter a quick 'yeah.' Issac doesn't say anything else. His eyes are glued to the road again.

The truck makes some weird noises and stops halfway there. Issac groans and hits the steering wheel. "Really? Of all times you choose now to break down?"

I hop out of the truck, followed by Hunter, who slams the door. He throws his hands in the air. "Great. Now how are we going to get the supplies and get them back to camp?"
I glare at him. "I don't know. We'll just have to look around and hope there's a car or something just lying around." He huffs and stomps away.
Wain sighs. "I'll get em'." He jogs after Hunter, leaving Issac and me alone.
Issac is crouched down, his face buried in his hands. I can tell he's aggravated so I give him a hug from behind and kiss the top of his head. "Calm down. We'll figure something out. We always do."
He puts a hand over mine and leans into me. "I know. It's just..."
"Just what?"
He mumbles. "I really liked that truck."
I laugh and kiss him again. "Well, you'll find another one. Don't worry. It's not the end of the world."
He smirks. "Actually, I think it is." He leans in to kiss me, but we're interrupted by a shout.

"Hey lovebirds! Come look over here!" Issac and I exchange looks. He nods and gets his pistol ready.

We run for a minute and skid to a stop. Hunter and Wain are sitting on the back of a truck. A running truck. I could almost laugh, but I don't want to give Hunter or Wain any praise. Issac...not so much.

"Dude! This is amazing! I call driving!" I want to hit Issac. He shouldn't be encouraging them.

Hunter yells. "C'mon Linda! We've got work to do!" I reluctantly step forward, shoving my pride down, and smile. Things odds are in our favor right now.
