Linda's POV

"Are you okay?" I ask for the hundredth time.

Hunter shakes his head and laughs. "I'm still fine."

"Sorry. I mean you're probably use to killing....What did you call those things again?"

"Zombies. It means 'the dead'." We're heading towards the outskirts of the town and then it just ends. There's nothing but wall surrounding it.

Hunter takes a seat on the ground and pats the spot beside him.

"How did you find this place?" I say and sit down.

"I had a group with me. They were tired and beaten down. The children were starving and we lost some on the way. I was the leader of the group. Anyways we needed shelter for the night and It was my job to find it. So I went to scope the hotel out and when I stepped on the trap door it broke. I plummeted to the bottom and caught a glimpse of the city. I lead the people here and we've been here since making runs to the surface only when needed." He seems proud of himself, but I see something else behind his eyes.

"There's something your not telling me."

He looks at me and his expression changes. "That's it. I was just...thinking about what would've happened if I hadn't found this place." He smiles at me and I smile back. His eyes are a dark brown, but it's a pretty brown. I can't really explain it. He starts to lean in and I do the same. Our faces are only inches apart and I can feel his breath on my face. I hear a cough and look over to see Issac and Cleo.

"Sorry to interrupt, but we have a problem." Cleo's voice is urgent.

"Okay." Hunter gets up and gives me his hand. I pull myself up and wipe the dirt from my pants.

"What's going on?" I ask. Cleo ignores me and whispers something in Hunters ear. He nods his head and Cleo walks away.

"Sorry Linda. I have to go take care of some business."

"Oh. Okay." He kisses me on the cheek and I feel my face heat up. I watch him walk away with Cleo and in seconds he's mixed with the crowd and  out of my sight.

"Gross." Issac says.

"Blow it up yours." I stomp towards the market, but of course Issac follows.

"Arn't you at least a little concerned about his "business" he has to take care of? Cause I know I am." His words have some sort of effect on me because my stomach feels uneasy. He did sound...secretive.

"It's none of our business. Maybe someone was stealing or there was a fight-"

Issac bursts out laughing. "That's what you think? Are you that naive?"

"No!" I defend myself. I hate it when he makes fun of me and when he makes a point. "Fine we'll check it out, but if we get caught I'm blaming you."

-

Issac motions for me to move and I do. We're sneaking around the main building. Issac says he's seen Hunter come here a lot.

"Are you sure this is the place?" I shout whisper.

"Yes." He crouched behind a bush when a guard walks out. I crouch behind him and when the guy's gone we walk in the building. It's empty and there's one door.

"Issac...I don't think we should be doing this." He ignores me and opens the door. There's a long hallways and at the end of it is another door.

"Issac." He keeps ignoring me. He pulls the other door open and there's stairs leading down.

"This isn't creepy." Issac snorts. He grabs my hand and slowly leads me down the stairs.

When we reach the bottom there's nothing. No doors, no lights, just an empty dark space. I hear voices, but I can't make out whose. Issac's feeling the wall and finds a lever. He pulls it down and the wall splits in half. My eyes go wide and Issac freezes beside me.

"No."
