A/N

What?!?! 2 updates in one day?! What can I say, I have a lot of energy today. Hope you enjoy! Bye :)

-------------------------

It's cloudy outside and It looks like it's going to rain. It feels like we've been walking for days, but it's only been hours. We haven't ran into any freaks yet and I hope it stays that way.

"Over there." I hear Issac say.

"What?" I don't see anything, but apparently he does.

"There's some cars. We should go have a look and see if any of them are of use." Oh. I don't see anything potentially dangerous, so it must be safe enough. Welcome to my world.

"You stay here. I'll go over. Watch my back." I nod my head and crouch down. He jogs over to the cars and starts checking each of them. I look over and see a freak. It's heading towards Issac. I aim my gun at its head and fire. The sound hurts my ears and echoes throughout the area, but I managed to hit the man. He falls to his knees and then onto his back. Issac is staring at me and gives me a thumbs up. I smile a little because I'm proud of myself. I was able to shoot one and I don't feel bad about it. I knew it was going to hurt Issac and I couldn't let that happen. I run towards Issac and jump around.

"Did you see that? I did it!" He chuckles and goes back to looking in cars.

"Found one that works. So when you're done celebrating, we can go." I shake my head and jump in the passenger seat.

"Does this have a lot of gas?" I ask trying to start a conversation.

"Yeah. The weird thing is though, it has a full tank."

What's weird about that?  "I don't see how that's weird. That's a good thing."

He squints and his eyes dart back and forth, observing the area. "I guess." I don't know what to say so I just stare out the window.

*2 Hours Later*

"Linda... when you were asleep... you said someone's name."

"What was the name?" Who's name could I have said? Since when did I talk in my sleep?

"Some guy. I think David?" I look down at my lap and play with my fingers.

"Oh." I don't look at him.

"I brought this up because I was wondering who he was."

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "Um... he was my boyfriend." My throat hurts and my mouth feels dry all of a sudden.

"What happened to him?"

A tear falls and I wipe it off. Plastering a smile on my face and pretending  it doesn't bother me, I speak up. "Well he was scratched and eventually turned into one of those...freaks. I was lucky to escape the house and then you found me later the same day." I roll my eyes. "Happily ever after." I go back to looking out of the window.

An awkward silence started to creep up. "So what did you do before all of this?" I ask changing the subject.

"I was a substitute teacher. What about you?"

"I just graduated yesterday, so I was nothing." I say and laugh. He does the same. His laugh is amazing. His smile can make any one have a positive attitude. I ask him a bunch of other questions just to hear him talk. Eventually it gets dark out. I lean my head against the window and close my eyes, letting the vibrations calm me.

"Goodnight Issac." I'm already drifting off, but I hear his voice one last time.

"Goodnight... Linda."
