I hope everyone has had a fantastic new year!

Issac's POV

Sam handled the situation fairly well. She didn't seem sad, but who could blame her. None of us knew Wain except for Hunter and that other chick. Her name keeps slipping my mind. It doesn't matter.

"Sam?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm going to go see where Linda ran off to." She chews her lip. For a second she looks like she wants to say something, but decides not to.

"Okay. Be careful." I nod and head into the woods. One things for sure, she couldn't have gone far.

After a few minutes I hear talking and then yelling. I run towards the sounds, but stop and duck behind a bush when I see what's going on. Hunter and Linda are sitting down, grass is ripped up all around them, and she's yelling at him. I almost intervene, but then I see the tears falling down her face and his arm on her back. A pang of jealousy runs through me. She hates him. Why is she allowing that? I should be the one comforting her.

"I'm sorry, Hunter."

"I'm sorry too, Linda." Silence. He still has his arm on her back and I just want to rip it off.

Minutes pass by and I can't take it anymore. I finally stand up and clear my throat. Hunter jumps and quickly scoots away from Linda. She stares at me, her mouth open.

"How much of that did you hear?"

I lie. "I didn't hear anything. I was sent to come get you guys since its getting dark." She sighs in relief and it ticks me off. "Well if you guys are done catching up, we have to go." I spin on my heel and start walking, not even waiting to see if they're following.

"Issac, wait up." Linda jogs beside me and matches her pace with mine. "What's wrong?"

I avoid her gaze. "Nothing. I'm fine."

"Issac, I can tell there's something-" I stop walking and face her.

"I'm fine! Stop asking." She steps back, fear in her eyes. I notice my hands are clenched into fists, and even worse than that, one is raised. Hunter runs up and pushes her behind him in a protective gesture. I put my hand down and step back. "Linda...Linda I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"

Hunter interrupts me. "Don't you dare apologize. Not after what you just did." Linda's eyes are watering and her whole body is shaking. Hunter continues talking. "I've seen men like you. You say it was an accident, but you'll do it again. It's an instinct. A bad instinct."

I try to protest but he keeps cutting me off. "I'm sorry-"

"Don't." He walks Linda the rest of the way to camp and I just stay where I am. I can't believe I did that. I'd never hurt Linda. Never. Why did I do that? Linda will never look at me the same again now.
