"Lanie... hello?" A familiar voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked up to a concerned Darcy.

"What was the question?" I asked her shaking my head a little to get back to reality. She just shook her head at me.

"I didn't ask you a question..." I sighed. "I was trying to tell you about something, but I'm afraid you'll fall asleep during it! What is up with you this week?" I shrugged, I looked around at the cute cafe that I started working in Monday of this week. Darcy came to keep me company, apparently I was the only who thought there would actually be costumers coming in, but I was wrong. My boss wasn't strict at all and I was kind of okay with that, but his son was a jackass. I've known him for a few days and already hate him. "Well? I asked you a question then!"

"Sorry, nothing is wrong with me," I chuckled a bit. "I'm just tired I guess."

"Yeah, 'tired'. Lanie you're acting like you were when your dad... passed." I looked at Darcy and sighed.

"Darce, I'm not depressed. I'm just tired, okay?" she sighed, but nodded, taking a sip of her tea. Jake, my bosses son, walked to the front of the shop.

"You're not suppose to chat with the costumers." I rolled my eyes mentally. "It's against policy."

"Well, actually, she is the only person here, and according to your dad, I'm allowed to invite friends to chat." So suck it. I added mentally. His jaw clenched and he walked back to the back room.

"Oooo, go Lanie! Whoop!" Darcy said and went to highfive me, but her stool slipped from under her and she fell.

"Oh my god?! Are you okay?" I tried to keep my laughter in, but it escaped, I got out from behind the counter and went to her side she was laughing as well. She couldn't breathe she was laughing so hard.

"What the hell was that?!" Jake looked over the counter, he tried holding back a smile when he saw us, but he failed. "Get up. A costumer could come in any minute."

"Yeah you're telling me this and you just cursed!" Darcy started to laugh again. I looked up at Jake and he was smiling, I helped Darcy up and we got the stool up.

"Are you alright?" Jake asked Darcy, which I mentally gagged at, and she nodded while she smiled.

"Jake, can I go home early? No one is coming..." he shook his head at me and I sighed. "Why not?"

"Because, it's ag-"

"Against policy, could you get a new catch phrase please?" he smiled at me and walked to the sink, he started to wash some of the coffee mugs.

"He likes you." Darcy leaned over and whispered to me. "He sooooo likes you."

"No, he doesn't. He likes you Darce, and you like him too! Anyway, he is too old for me."

"He is only 17, Lane." she looked at me like I'd gone nuts or something.

"I'm 16, I'm still a baby." she rolled her eyes and laughed at my remark. I looked back at Jake, he had been staring at us and quickly looked away.

"See!" Darcy slapped my arm and I bit my tongue so I wouldn't scream, I didn't need to draw attention to myself. "Oops... Sorry."

"You're an awful person." she smiled at me and I laughed. "I'm sure he was looking at you though." she rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, nope."

The bell rang, I looked up to see a guy... a very familiar looking guy, but I couldn't quite think of a name. "Welcome to Danby's Cup!" I welcomed the all to familiar blonde headed lad as he walked in. He waved at me and walked toward the counter.
