"What?!" Darcy said and then screamed, I held my hands over my ears and laughed, which quickly turned to coughing. "Oops... sorry, but what?! I can't believe it! TOLD YOU SO!" I laughed again and before I can cough, drink some water. "How did you get so sick? Oh yeah. Darcy knows. You, my best friend, were kissing in the cold!" she stood and danced around the room.
"Shut up!" I said with my voice almost completely gone. She sat down and looked at me with pity in her eyes. "What?"
"It's so sad... you are just so hopeless." she sighed and the doorbell rang. "Hopefully it's Liam or something. I need to go to school, but I can't leave you..."
"Hopefully it isn't Liam..." I sighed and turned back to my book. She sighed, stood up, and went to the door. I hear her squeal and I laughed to myself but then I realize that it is probably Jake... why else would she squeal?! Well, maybe it's Josh... hopefully it's josh. I mean, I look like absolute garb-
The door opened and cuts my thoughts off.
"Lanie!" I hear and see Jake and smiled instantly, but all I want to do is hide my face. I probably look paler than usual, if that is at all possible.
"Jak-" I said, but my voice completely vanished. He runs to me and looks at me the same way Darcy had been.
"Aw! You poor little thing! This is really sad!" I tried to laugh, but I made no noise. "Do you need some water? Food? More blankets? Anything?" he asked and I shook my head. "Are you sure?" I nod. "Okay."
"Well. I'll leave you two here. I need to go back to school and well, learn. Oh and Jake, she is contagious. So, no matter how beautiful she is, her lips are off duty. Toodles!" she grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs. I laughed, but again nothing came out. Jake looked at me and kissed my head.
"If I can't kiss your lips, I'll kiss your face." I smiled and he pulled out his phone. "Is this going to be weird? I mean you can't talk and I'm not good at starting conversations... with myself." I smiled instead of trying to laugh and grabbed the notebook I have, off of my bed stand. I grabbed a pen and wrote 'I have paper. Close enough.' He smiled and I smiled back.
'So, are you going to work today?"
"No. My sister is taking our place." I smiled at his words.
'Good. They don't need you anyway. Your coffee making skills, they suck.' He gasped, fake hurt, and I silently laughed.
"That isn't very nice, Ms. Farley." I shrugged and wrote on the paper.
'You still love me.'
"True that." he leaned into kiss me but stopped himself. "Damn. That was such a perfect moment." I coughed and laughed. Some of my voice coming back. "Hey! A start in getting better!" I nod.
'Must have something to do with you. Darcy has been here all morning and I think I've been getting worse... don't tell her I wrote that.' He smiled.
"Wouldn't dream of it, but it is most likely true." I smiled and he leaned down, only that time he did kiss me and I kissed back. He pulled away faster than I wanted him too, but I am pretty sick and I knew he didn't want to look like me by the end of the week.
"Oh.." I heard Liam's voice and looked over to the door. Every. Freaking. Time.
"You can stay." I made sure the words come out that time. He smilec a little and looked around awkwardly. Jake handed me a glass of water and I smiled at him and drank some of the water. Liam sat on the other side of my bed and didn't make eye contact with me.
"If you have someone here, I should go back to school." Liam said and stood up. "We have a assembly today... don't want to miss anything." he hugged me and walked out before I can try to say anything, I sighed and laid my head back.
