The sound of shuffling feet had begun to fade by the end of the night. It allowed me to clear my head a little and finally get a few hours of sleep. The sun was bouncing off the walls when I finally woke up, another day in this new hell hole of a world. I was starving in here. The food and water had gone. The amount of IV bags left for the man in the bed were also getting low, but he would last longer than me. Deciding that today was the day, if I wanted to live, I opened the door for the first time since it all started. So, for the rest of the day I have been barricading the cafeteria doors, just down the corridor. When I left the room there wasn't any of those things out there, so I decided to explore down the corridor a little. That was how I found the large group of them on my floor. They were all huddled together like a pack of wild animals in the middle of the cafeteria, waiting for their next victim. I managed to lock the door as they began to shuffle towards me. The door lock didn't last long but luckily, I found a bike lock chain in one of the doctors back packs before it gave up. I had only just managed to lock it together when the lock burst and the hands came crawling through the gap at me. At least I don't have as many of those things wandering around on this floor anymore. It gave me some time to grab some water, food and IV bags from the supply closet.
