Multi-Part Chapter: Part 1

"What do you think?" Sherlock held up a little blue baby onesie that had a white daisy in the corner.

"I like it better than the pink one" John glanced up from his laptop and eyed over the garment of clothing, "It's cuter".

"I agree" Sherlock took the onesie and walked into the bedroom where the crib with Rosie was situated. He carefully picked up the baby and placed the clothes on her. She looked so cute and Sherlock lifted her above his head and spun around, making the baby giggle and smile. Sherlock couldn't hold back his own smile, Rosie made him so happy, one of the few things in this world that could.

Now that he thought about it, there was only a couple of things that made him happy in this world. He could probably name them using the fingers on only his right hand.

Rosie.

Solving cases.

John.

Yeah, that was correct. John. Of course John made him happy. Back when they had met, when Sherlock realized that John wasn't like the others. He wasn't a goldfish. He was so much better than that. He, just like Sherlock, had been through a lot and it made a closer friendship for them. They became even closer and closer every day since they moved in together. He knew that he started developing feelings for John and he saw that John was experiencing something similar to that too. It was quite scary for Sherlock and for John both, because they had never experienced feelings for the same gender before but they weren't scared of this.

Sherlock decided to finally voice his feelings for John, since they both knew how the other man felt, but they had never officially talked about it or admitted that they were definitely something more than friends now.

Sherlock decided to take a leap of faith and invite John to dinner tonight and talk to him about it. He walked into the living room.

"John" he asked, balancing Rosie on his right side, "What would you say to some dinner tonight? Molly would be more than happy to babysit, she loves watching Rosie, says she's an amazing kid".

"Yeah, sure" John nodded, looking up at his flatmate, "What brings?"

"No reason, honestly" Sherlock lied, turning away and carrying the baby back to the crib.

"Be ready by 6:30?" Sherlock yelled back into the living room, waiting for the reply from John that came shortly after and in the form of a short but direct yes.

Sherlock dusted off the old record player in the living room and put a vinyl into it and lowered the needle.

You are my sunshine.
My only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

John bobbed his head to the song and Sherlock swayed slightly near the window while accompanying the song with his violin. John typed away on his phone, smiling a wide smile because of the atmosphere.

"I love your violin playing" John said, looking up at Sherlock when the song ended.

It was 6 o'clock when Sherlock and John started getting ready, they planned to be at the restaurant at seven. They got ready in different rooms, each trying to look the best they could for their date.... for their friendly dinner.

"Okay Sherlock! Ready" John walked into the living room, adjusting his bowtie.

Sherlock walked into the living room, making his tie a little bit looser.

"Ready?" Sherlock asked, swinging his Belstaff over his shoulders.

It was only in the cab that John realized that he forgot his jacket because he had been admiring Sherlock too much.

They had dinner, enjoying a nice two course meal at a 4-star restaurant. Sherlock offered to pay but John refused, saying that it was his turn. However, Sherlock insisted that John had always payed for the takeout so it was his turn to pay for the meal. He shoved his credit card into the waiters hand before John could do anything else.

"It's a lovely evening, why don't we walk back to flat?" John offered, raising an eyebrow.

Sherlock nodded happily, he was in such a good mood from the evening.
