I'm having the most wonderful dream about Collin when there's a knock on my front door. I try to ignore it and get back to the wonderful make out session, but they are persistent.
"Olivia? Are you there?"
My eyes fly open at the sound of the voice and I scramble to grab my phone. The alarm still hasn't gone off and when I look at the time and see it's 7:05, I rush to the door and look through the peephole. Just as I suspected. Collin is standing there, leaning one hand against the wall next to my door. Shit!
"Um, just a minute!" I call to him, wracking my brain for what to do. Thankfully I had already gotten a shower, but I still needed to do my hair, makeup, and find something to wear. Shit, shit, shit! I silently scream.
"Are you almost ready?" Collin asks through the door.
What do I say? If I say yes, I'm screwed, because I would not be looking very good in the short time it would take me to throw something on. I look back through the peephole. Collin is currently wearing a suit with no tie, so that option is out. I quickly decide that maybe a little flirting will help ease him a bit.
"Maybe," I reply huskily. "Or maybe I'll let you wait out in the hall for a little longer."
I can see his eyes narrow through the peephole. "What are you talking about? Are you ready or not?"
"Turnabout is fair play. You did stand me up last night.” Again I try to sound sexy, but it comes out more as a woman who's been smoking for too long.
"You sound funny. Are you alright?" Now he looks suspicious, so I decide to let the truth come out and let the chips fall where they may.
I open the door so he can see I am in fact, not ready. I take on as sheepish a face as I can so I appear non-threatening and apologetic. He crosses his arms over his chest when he sees me and a smile plays at the corners of his mouth. He raises one eyebrow in silent question.
"Alright, so I'm not ready. I fell asleep after working all afternoon and accidentally set my alarm to six am instead of six pm. I'm sorry, okay?" My fists are clenched at my sides and my chin is up, ready for any reprimand I'm about to receive, but he only smiles and leans forward to gently kiss my lips.
"It's okay," he soothes. "You're right. I was late yesterday, so lets call it even. You get ready and I'll call John to tell him we'll be down in a minute."
"No, why don't you tell him to come up. I have something for him anyway." Collin nods, but before I can move he takes me in his arms and gives me a deeper, tongue-filled kiss. "Thank you for lunch," he murmurs and steps back to make the call.
I stand there for a second, a tingling sensation moving from my lips all the way to my toes. Once I decide I'm not going to spontaneously combust on the spot, I hastily grab my phone on the way to my room. I send a quick text to Sasha, letting her know John will be here and she might want to make an unexpected drop in. She replies that she doesn't want to see him, but I assure her it will be worth her time and she finally agrees.
