The day has arrived for our plan to be put into play, we have managed to save some food from the past two days, our stomachs have been growling continuously, even the beatings havent stopped the feeling. But i quickly realised Walters plan, watching Kurt get beaten was almost more than i could bare and with him forced to watch me be beaten killed him inside but we have both fought through the pain, ready for today, we both were beaten earlier, i almost thought Kurt had died when he lay so still after the final punch, i accidently left my side unprotected which earned me a brutal kick to my ribs, my scream could have woken the dead, happy with the reactions the abusers left us, for what felt like hours neither of us moved, i was teetering on the edge of consciousness but i forced myself to stay aware, to attempt to deal with the pain myself. Eventually Kurt woke up and we managed to help each other to sit up, leaning against the wall for support as our bodies scream at us.

"It's almost time Lara." I smile reassuringly at Kurt.

"We are going to do it. But remember your promise."

"I will."

"And what is that promise?"

"To leave you if you fall behind, if one of us gets away they can get help, no use in both of us getting caught. Even though i entirely disagree."

"I know, but you promised and i will hold you to that, come on, have some of the food, we need to get our strength up a bit, just enough to get out." I hand him half of our stash of food, the bread is stale now but will still provide us with some energy and the chocolate we managed to save will help exponentially, we nibble on the food in silence, savouring the taste, turning slightly, wincing at the sharp pain from my ribs i shimmy the loose stone from the wall, the effort making my arm ache already, handing the stone to Kurt, his colour better than mine already. His hand brushes mine as he takes the stone.

"You ready for our suicide mission?"

"I will be running as if the grim reaper himself is chasing me." Kurt laughs at my statement before he slowly pushes to his feet, he cradles one arm to his chest as he takes his position by the door, leaning against the wall, waiting. Pushing unsteadily to my feet i hobble near to the doorway and then we just wait. Not many minutes pass, but long enough for my feet to start feeling numb, then the usual sound of metal sliding against metal, grating on my nerves but i steady myself as the door swings open, a large man stepping through, carrying a tray. As soon as his eyes hit my figure he suddenly changes his stance, preparing himself for an attack from me,  i take a step towards him, glaring as menacingly as i can, trying to not let my low energy levels show, as we predicted the man's attention is so focused on me he doesnt notice Kurt step up behind him, slamming the stone into the back of his skull, a split second of shock registers on the mans face before he falls forward, almost in slow motion, the tray slipping from his hands, somehow i manage to snatch the tray from the air before it can clatter to the floor, the large heavy thump of the mans body landing on the floor, face first, makes me shudder. Quickly springing into action i pass Kurt half of the food, stuffing my half of the food in my mouth as quickly as possible as we run from the room, shutting the door behind us, locking it before Kurt catches my hand as we race down the corridor towards the room where Byron and Alex were being tortured. Luck seems to be on our side as we race into the room, the stale smell assults my nostrils but the room is empty, putting my trust in Kurt i race with him towards what seems to be a stone wall but before i can protest he slams in a stone and a small door opens, Kurt climbs through it swiftly, dropping into darkness and i follow, putting all my faith in Kurt. The small fall shocks me, i manage to stay on my feet but my ribs scream in protest and i have to bite back the pain, sinking my teeth into my lip as Kurt grabs my hand again, we race off through the tunnel, a dim light scattered every few metres or so, giving us just enough light to see. My steps start to falter but i keep pushing forward, the need to escape causing adrenaline to run through my veins, giving me the boost of energy i need, suddenly we break out through a small wooden door and i get my first breath of fresh air, the sweetness of the crisp air almost knocks all sense out of me but Kurt pulls me quicker, closing the door behind us as we race into the twilight lit forest. We run deeper into the forest until i trip on a root, falling harshly to the floor, i bite into my hand to muffle the scream of pain as my ribs feel like they have pierced into my lungs, Kurt quickly races back to me, trying to help me up, but as i stand the pain that shoots through my body from my ankle.
