Dinah was laying on her bed, Lilo & Stitch playing on the tv and her cellphone in hand. It was one of those odd moments where none of her siblings felt the need to be all over so she was trying to enjoy it as much as she could.
Normani never replied to her text and she assumed she just didn't know how. She'd been meaning to talk to the other girl about how she felt, but it didn't quite happen how she expected. She felt bad for blowing up on her in the group chat but it was like she literally could no longer contain it.
She really liked Normani and it was too confusing for her. All the shameless flirting and cute nicknames and touches. Yet no label. They weren't girlfriends. They weren't even technically dating.
With a loud sigh, Dinah opened her messages app, about to send an apology to Normani, when there was a sharp knocking on the front door. She squinted her eyes in confusion because they weren't expecting anyone. But then the door bell was ringing and the knocks were back and they sounded almost frantic.
She quickly stood up before any of her younger siblings tried to open the door. Whoever was at the door was extremely impatient because the knocks didn't stop until Dinah actually opened the door and revealed a slightly out of breath Normani holding.. a bouquet of flowers?
Normani looked up at Dinah with the most sincere, yet bashful, look on her face and the tenderness in her eyes made the Polynesian's heart stop.
"I-well. I googled it and white tulips are supposed to mean i'm sorry. and of course red roses mean love. I don't really know if they look good together, but i-yeah. i wanted to say i'm really sorry for confusing you so much and i probably sounded so insensitive. I just really didn't realize you wanted to label us as anything so, yeah. but i, um. I have a question as well." Normani managed to stammer out. Dinah was stunned into silence, not only by the girl's sudden appearance, but by her lack of confidence as well. In all the time Dinah had known Normani, she'd never seen her nervous.
"Well, i wanted to ask you to be my girlfriend. like, officially."
Dinah's jaw dropped and her eyes watered and then she let out the shakiest laugh before nodding yes and pulling Normani into a hug.
"I've been waiting for that, stupidhead." She said to her, well, girlfriend. The word made her stomach flutter.
"Sorry," Normani mumbled, holding out the flowers. Dinah took them with a grin.
"They're beautiful."
"You're dating my sister? Why? She's ugly." Regina's loud voice came from somewhere next to them.
"Shut up, annoying," Dinah groaned.
