Allysus🙏🏼: I'm glad you thought about it :)
Lauren definitely thought about it. In fact, she thought about it seemingly every waking moment. It was an issue that she was repressing and she knew she couldn't hide it very much longer.
She stopped ignoring Camila after her conversation with Ally, but the younger girl obviously knew something was off. Lauren wanted to tell her, she really did. But it was something that could change the way Camila viewed Lauren. It could alter their entire dynamic and Lauren wasn't sure she wanted to be the reason they stopped talking.
Nonetheless, she had a secret and she needed to share it with Camila.
They'd been talking for only a month and a half, knowing each other in person for even less than that. Although these were the circumstances, Lauren felt an overwhelming sense of ease when she was with Camila. It was like they fit perfectly and were just waiting to meet. They had this connection that neither of them could explain, it just was. It made them feel wholeheartedly comfortable with one another.
Or maybe it was just Lauren's wishful thinking.
"Hey," Lauren was pulled out of her trance by the soft voice she'd been avoiding all week.
"Hi." She breathed out. This would be okay.
"You wanted to talk to me?" Camila asked timidly. She was repeatedly bending her fingers backward slightly and Lauren learned it was something she did when she was nervous.
"Do you have anywhere to be right now?" She asked. Camila shook her head no and Lauren gently grabbed her wrist, guiding the smaller girl to the courtyard.
She let Camila sit on one of the benches before biting her bottom lip anxiously. She went over what she was about to say in her mind for what seemed like the millionth time.
"Lo, what's wrong?" Camila asked and Lauren nearly broke at the sight of soft, brown eyes filled with concern.
"I have something to tell you." She finally admitted quietly. "And it might change.. Everything between us." Camila let the out a breathy laugh.
"It would have to be pretty bad to get me to stop talking to you." The shorter of the two said gently. "You're not, like, a serial killer or anything right?"
"No!" Lauren shouted. "God, no."
"Then, we have no problem."
"Okay, well. You see- um." Lauren wanted curl up into a ball and die. She sounded like such an idiot. "I have something I need to tell you."
"We already established that." Camila reminded, softly urging Lauren on.
"The thing is, well. I kinda maybe sort of have feelings for someone." She blurted quickly as she sat down as well.
"Why is that bad?" Camila asked, brows furrowed in genuine confusion.
"Because that someone maybe might sort of kinda be you?" Lauren internally groaned at how idiotic she sounded. This was Camila, for goodness sake. The girl who made Lauren feel more at ease than she'd ever been in her entire life.
When Camila didn't reply right away, Lauren felt hot tears pricking at her eyes. "I'm sorry." She said, getting ready to stand up and leave. Camila, however, was quicker to react and she placed a hand on Lauren's knee.
"Lo, stop. I'm just- I'm just trying to figure out why you think this is a bad thing." She admitted hesitantly. "Because I think I might kind of like you too."
Lauren almost choked on thin air. Surely she misheard. Her heart was pounding so hard she wouldn't be surprised if it distorted her hearing.
"Y-you what?"
"I like you too." Camila answered with more certainty this time. "I mean it's kind of really fucking hard not to."
Lauren's cheeks went red and she looked down shyly.
"Lauren," Camila continued, softly demanding the older girl's attention. When she saw those green eyes that she adored so much, she sighed. "Is this why you've been avoiding me?"
When she got a timid nod in response, she pulled Lauren into a hug.
"Thank you for telling me." She whispered.
Lauren just held on to her tighter and nodded silently.
