Camila stepped out of her house wringing her hands nervously. As she made her way towards Lauren's car, she felt her palms get clammy for reasons unbeknownst to her. Well, that was a lie. She knew why. She hated parties. Even as a child she would get overwhelmed at birthday parties. But she'd grown, matured. Surely she could handle a houseful of high school students.
"Hi." She greeted her friends, effectively masking her nerves behind a grin.
"You look hot, Mila." Normani complimented, foregoing a traditional greeting.
"Thanks" Camila blushed. "So do you." Really, Normani looked good all the time and Camila was about ninety-three percent sure the older girl already knew that, so her praise felt inadequate. Normani, for her part, grinned widely and thanked her.
"So," Dinah spoke from the backseat. "Someone needs to explain to Walz how this works."
"Like you've ever done it, Dinah." Camila huffed. "Don't put it all on me."
"Fine. Explain to us," the taller girl rolled her eyes. "Happy?"
Camila only smiled cheekily.
"Well," Normani started. "Basically every day for the next week there's going to be a party at someone's house. But that part isn't planned. Whoever wants to throw the next party usually just invites everyone the night before, at the previous party." She explained. "It's always a different kind of scene, so it doesn't get boring."
"Last year we went to all seven and it was pretty fun. But if you guys don't want to we don't have to." Lauren added.
"We'll just see how tonight goes first." Camila spoke for herself and Dinah after they shared a look.
"Perfect." Ally grinned so big Camila was genuinely worried her face would cramp up. "Let's go, mamas." She squealed as they pulled up to the house.
They all filed out of Lauren's car and Camila's body was thrumming from the vibration of the music. She couldn't help but feel a little bit excited, considering she'd never really been to a party before. When they entered through the front door a beer was shoved in Camila's hand. When she looked to her side she saw Lauren with a wide grin, opening her own beer from a table next to the door.
"It'll be fun." The green eyed girl whispered into Camila's ear. "I promise."
Yeah, she was definitely excited.
