Jasmine looked through the window and sighed. This was the day. This was the day she would confront her crush, Elias Reed, about her feelings toward him. Her bluebell eyes clouded with love as she thought about the way a single flash of his gentle smile could brighten someone's day. She put on a new white t-shirt and draped a checkered blouse over top, then slipped a navy blue pair of ripped jeans over her pale legs. Pulling her brown streaked blonde hair into a tight ponytail, she hurried down the stairs and out the house.
Jasmine's best friend, Lily, met her at the school gates, greeting her with a wide grin and a wave. Throughout the year, Lily had supported her with her crush and had always pushed her to tell him how she felt, but Jasmine just couldn't do it. She hadn't had the courage to express to anyone who she had given her heart to, with the exception of Lily, until today, and she was still sure that it wasn't going to go how she wanted it to go.
Nervously looking around the courtyard, Jasmine found Elias talking with his own best friend, Matt, and reluctantly took a pace forward, before turning heel, and heading back toward Lily. As soon as she approached her, Lily grabbed her by the arms, spun her around, and pushed her right into someone. Legs limp, all of her weight was supported by the strong, sturdy chest and arms of a boy. Jasmine looked up into the gorgeous green eyes of a wildly surprised Elias and felt her heart melting into a large puddle of mush.
It only took a few minutes for her to find her footing again, but it felt like a millennium to Jasmine. She was blushing like crazy; a bright red stream of color was streaking up her neck to the very tips of her ears, and it didn't seem like Elias was doing much better. He was as red as a tomato, but not because of the same reason as Jasmine; he was still recovering from the shock of the fall that he so easily prevented.
He's so strong, she thought.
"Are...are you okay?" He so carefully asked her, leaving her speechless.
Unable to reply, she slowly nodded her head, eyes still locked with his. Once she fully recovered, Jasmine attempted an apology, that turned out as an awkward mumble, and leaped back in embarrassment. After all her stuttering, she stopped speaking and took a deep breath.
"Elias...I...I really like you," Jasmine murmured.
