Astonished, Jasmine stared deep into Elias' eyes, seeing genuine fondness, and felt unconditional love swarming around her. His words rang in her ears, making her heart swell with joy and happiness. She clung on to him, feeling her legs go weak. She looked down, eyes closed with longing and she felt him raise her head back up at him. Love. That's all she could say to describe her emotions. He-he loves me! Internally screaming, she felt her cheeks flush and pulled way from him, tripping over her foot as she did so.

Arms flailing, Elias tried to reach for her and support her once again, but his effort was in vain. She could feel the air being knocked out of her as she hit the cold, barren ground. A chasm had engulfed her, deep and deadly. Loose dirt flew up as she collided with the earthly floor, along with a horrible thud. Wailing screams came from the onlookers, though they didn't dare take a step forward. Horrendous sounds echoed through Jasmine's mind as she imagined her death, and she tried to hold on to any light that she saw. Pain searing through her back, she lost focus and the darkness extinguished the little speck of light that had promised her life.

"Jasmine!" Elias stared at her in apprehension, his heart hollow. He didn't want to leave her, but he had to help her. Running to the nearest hardware store, he quickly paid for a long and sturdy rope and sprinted back to the park. In his worry and anxiety, he couldn't feel the growing cramp in his side. He tied the rope to a tree nearby, then let it slip into the hole, following it down. Making sure his feet didn't catch loose earth, he slithered down the rope and landed beside the unconscious girl.

Securely fastening her to the rope, he climbed up the skin burning material, ignore his aching muscles that threatened to make him let go. Once free, he pulled Jasmine out of the hole, carefully making sure that she didn't bang her head against the dank earth. Grabbing her in his arms, he dashed out of the park and to the nearest hospital, running as fast a the wind. He barely felt the ground beneath his feet as he rounded the corner towards the hospital; the normally painful feeling you'd get when your foot strikes a rock felt like nothing. Only one thought came to mind, giving him all the strength he needed.
