Jasmine's eyes fluttered, the foggy cloud vanishing into the stars that bloomed in them. The gloomy sadness that once took over her turned into gorgeous flowers, a symbol of spring that meant everything would be able to start anew. Jasmine stared in front of her for a few minutes more, before looking straight up at a joyous Elias, bursting with happiness.

"E-Elias?" Jasmine murmured, body going limp with relief and gratefulness. She clung onto him, hugging him close for just a little too long. Suddenly, memories flooded back to her and she leaped away, eyes once again filled with mist. "How could you?" She screamed at him, catching the attention of others in the park and causing them to stare, wanting to see what all the commotion was about. Jasmine didn't care, her mind was too blurred to notice the curious glances being cast their way.

Elias stood there petrified, mouth opening and closing as if he were to speak, though no sound came out. His arm reached for hers, but dropped back to his side, as if afraid of what his touch might do. He backed up, unsure of how to respond, as a fire blazed inside of her eyes, trying to hide the welling tears; a frown plastered against her face, stifling a sob. Her body was tense, as if ready to defend herself from what words he was to say.

"I-" The frozen boy spluttered out, choking on his words. His heart was heavy; waves of fresh grief washed over him, and he struggled to speak. "I'm s-sorry."

The words sent an arrow through Jasmine's heart, and she stared at the grief-stricken boy. His head hung, eyes drooping with shame and defeat. Her anger changed into sadness and disbelief, from there sympathy, then back to anger, as if she couldn't decide what emotions she felt. She stood her ground, still unwilling to give in to the charming, captivating, Elias Reed.

Silence stretching out for longer than was comfortable to the pair and onlookers alike, Elias nodded his head in disappointment and turned heel. Worry slowed his pace as he wondered if they would ever be friends again. If only I had just said yes! He scolded himself. Dragging his feet to walk, Elias stumbled away, staggering forward in distress.

Sympathy washed over Jasmine, and in all her love for the boy, she put all her troublesome feelings away for the moment. "How can I trust you?" She called after the limping teenager, making him turn around in utter surprise. "How can I trust what you say?"

Elias' eyes brightened, and he forced a small grin, cheeks flushing as he opened his mouth. "Because... I-I... I l-love you."
