The room swarmed with nurses, physicians and doctors, all wanting to see what the commotion was about. Jasmine had been rushed into an emergency room on a stretcher and settled into an electric bed. A doctor closed the door in front of Elias, refusing to allow him in, and started working on poultices for Jasmine's wounds.

Elias paced the halls, frequently looking through the small, round window in the door. The doctor waited patiently beside the bed, checking to see if any signs of consiousness had returned to the still girl. A few minutes had gone by, and through the window, Elias saw Jasmine shift position, and he sighed with relief; he wasn't sure how long he would be able to stand the wait. The doctor moved closer to her and wrapped a cuff around her arm, squeezing a pump and cutting off the blood circulation. A sphygmomanometer. Elias remembered reading about it while studying physiatry.

After finished using the stethoscope to check her heart, and finally seeming to be satisfied with her condition, the doctor stood up and headed for the door, face as expressionless as a rock - which has no expressions at all. Elias stopped pacing and stood like a statue, almost afraid to move; he just waited in place for the doctor to come and give him the report.

"I'm afraid she's in no condition to have visitors right now," the doctor said as he walked out the door. "She'll need to rest first, but I assure you she's going to be fine."

"Thank you, sir, but it's my fault she ended up like that in the first place, and I would like to see her myself, if that's alright?"

The doctor gazed thoughtfully at him for a moment before shaking his head. "You kids are very persistent! Okay, I'll check and see if she's okay with you visiting."

"Thank you, sir!" Elias cried with joy, clamping his hand over his mouth as he realized he had practically shouted the words out and flushing with embarrassment.

The doctor shook his head once more and headed back into the room, whispering calm words to Jasmine. She opened her eyes for a second before closing them again, and through the window, Elias could see her lips moving.

The doctor came out a moment later, and gestured to the room. "You're free to stay there as long as you'd like," he said in a steady voice. "Just don't get her too overworked, if you so happen to get a chance to speak with her."

Elias nodded his head violently, excitement filling his body. He slowly opened the door and stepped cautiously inside. "Jasmine?" He spoke with a gentle voice, despite his excitement. "Jasmine, it's me."
