"Your footworks sloppy. Keep your knees slightly bend so they're always ready to move" I instruct Clary as we're training. She's never been properly trained before so while Alec is supposed to be watching her I train her instead. He doesn't seem to be bothered though and I sure don't mind spending time with my best friend. We then resume our previous position with the wooden fighting spears. She attacks me first and I swiftly doge it hitting her on the back.
"If you miss, move out of the way" I instruct.
She then attacks again, I dodge and just as I'm about to hit her she moves out of my way.
"Better" I hit the back of her legs making her fall to the ground "But don't let your guard down" She chuckles standing up.
"I'm gonna get some water you want a bottle?" I asks Clary already turning to walk towards the kitchen.
"Yes please" She shouts after me.
I make my way to the kitchen grabbing two water bottle from the fridge and then heading back to the training room to only seeing Alec in the corner of the room with his back facing me while he's on the phone, but no Clary.
I stand there for a few seconds confused "Where's Clary?" I ask Alec once he hangs up the phone.
He slightly jumps at my voice indicating that he didn't know that I was there but also looks around the room confused "Uh, she was just here" He replies.
"Oh for goodness sake Alec, you were supposed to be watching her" I throw my hands in the air in frustration knowing how Clary gets. She won't ever ask for permission if she wants to do something. "What was so important that you couldn't even look at her while on the phone" I proceed to argue.
"Uh.." He looks at the phone in his hand. "Magnus was just..." He trails off looking uncomfortable but then shakes his head. "Never mind we should find Clary"
"Finally something we agree on" I mutter picking up my daggers before walking out of the front door of the institute.
She could really be anywhere right now but its Clary we're talking about and if she's going to leave the institute she's probably going back to the place where something might trigger her memories.
"Where are we going?" Alec catches up with me, his bow in hand.
"Clary's place" I reply turning a corner "It's where she'll most likely be" I then take out my stele and run it over the invisibility rune so that no mundanes could see me walking around with daggers in my hands. Alec proceeds to follow my actions and we both walk silently round a few corners before nearing her place.
"Clary" I catch her attention as she's standing outside of a building but she doesn't get to reply because her phone rings and the woman beside her start looking around, not knowing where that's coming from.
"What's the point of an invisibility rune if you don't silence your phone" Alec snaps but she ignores him answering it.
"Hey Simon" She greets him and my ears perk up at him name. I've not spoken to Simon in a while so I listen in to the conversation without actually using a rune, not wanting to invade Clary's privacy.
"Yeah I know Simon. Listen I'm just round the corner from the usual cafe if you wanted to meet us here" She sighs scratching the back of her head guilt written all over her face. "Skylar and Alec" She tells him most likely answering a question.
"The mundanes coming?" Alec questions glaring and I elbow him which makes him shut up.
I shake my head "He's our friend" but Alec doesn't seem to care cause he just shrugs looking around bored. I scoff "Right I forgot you wouldn't know what that feels like"
