Me and Alec were on our way to get some breakfast hand in hand when he got a phone call from the institute. That is exactly why we're now standing above a mutant body in Jade wolf with confused expressions on our faces.
"Who even creates something like this" I wipe my finger along its slimy skin in disgust.
"It has to be Valentine's work" Luke examines the body. "He did always love to experiment"
"Wait you're implying that Valentine sent this..." I pause looking for the right word to describe the creature "...thing, for you?"
"It is a possibility"
"If that is the case then maybe he's going after ex circle members" Lydia suggests.
"Considering this could be the case we should get back to the institute and warn Hodge" Alec proposes.
"And your parents" Lydia remarks and Alec's face visibly pales.
"What do you mean?" He wonders.
"We should warn all ex circle members .." She then realises that he probably didn't know by the way he looks at the floor. "And that wasn't my place to say" She awkwardly smiles at the both of us.
"Alec.." I begin but he cuts me off.
"Its fine, I'll get over it" He says before storming out of the restaurant, me being right at his heels.
"Alec you don't have to hide the fact that you're upset" I stop him by grabbing his hand.
"I'm more angry than upset to be honest. How could they lie to me all my life, they're so against the circle but were in it at some point aswell. They're nothing but hypocrites" He lashes out.
"Did you get it all out?" I ask in a calm manner and he groans before punching one of the metal containers.
"Now I did" He looks down at his hand and winces slightly waving it in the air, indicating that he was hurt.
I roll my eyes "Let's just warn the institute, I'd rather there not be another attack before we get there"
Once we make our way to the institute Alec makes his way towards Hodge and I make mine towards Maryse since Alec will most likely not want to talk to her.
Making the foyer my first stop, I spot Maryse by one of the mission controls with some other shadowhunter by her side.
"Hey Maryse can I talk to you" I politely interrupt her previous conversation.
"I'll be right back" She tells the man before we take a few steps away from everyone.
"We think that Valentine might be targeting ex circle members" Her facial expression morphs to one of shock most likely not expecting me to know.
"How did you.." She begins but I cut her off "It's not important, what's important is that you watch out, he could go after you next"
"I'm not afraid of him, he can't get to me here" She stubbornly replies lifting her head up in arrogance so I decide to let it go. Wouldn't want to get on her bad side.
"If that's all then I have to get back to the monitor" She turns around but I follow her not having anything else to do anyway.
"Oh my lord" Maryse gasps looking at the screen and once my eyes land on it I am sprinting into the training room with only a dagger strapped to my leg.
Turns out another one of those mutants is in the institute and Hodge and Alec are currently attempting to fight it off. Only seconds pass before I'm bursting though the door wanting to help Alec out... and Hodge as well obviously.
