Today was a great day.

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing endlessly. When I checked, it was my Nanay. She called so my whole family could congratulate me because I got in! I'm part of the Philippine team again! Yes!

After the call, I found the message from Coach Francis and I called him. I found out that the team will already meet up at lunch.

My inbox was also full of congratulatory messages. One name caught my attention though. Den. Den texted me.

I knew you could make it. Congratulations, Ly!

For a split second, my heart bloomed with hope and I had wanted to call her. But I immediately crushed that hope and that thought.

We were best friends first before we were lovers. Of course, she would congratulate me. But it didn't mean anything more than that. If it did, wouldn't she have called me? Wouldn't she be with me again to celebrate this achievement? She wasn't and that was clear to me.

Besides, I promised to spend at least two months with Mika. I would honor that promise. I would use that time to give myself space and time away from Dennise. Maybe that was what Dennise needed also. And if the two of us were meant to be together, then it's still gonna be us in the end.

Whatever will be, will be.

I sent her a simple thank you response instead.

I browsed through my messages and finally found Mika's name.

I stayed up until 12am just so I can be the first one to greet you. 😊 Congratulations for making it to the national team, Ly! Sabi ko sayo sure ng pasok ka, eh! See you later! 😘

That emoticon almost gave me a heart attack. And like she said, I received her message at exactly 12am. My heart fluttered.

I called her.

"Congratulations!" she beamed as soon as she answered my call.

"Thank you," I said sincerely. "But how did you know? Nauna ka pang bumati kesa sa natanggap kong message from Coach."

"Because it's you. I just knew."

I bit my lip to stop myself from grinning madly. She believed in me. That brought me inexplicable joy.

"Thank you," I said again. "May meeting lang kami later tapos sunduin kita?"

"Sige. See you later, Ly. Congrats ulit!"

We ended the call and I didn't let that "Ly" thing ruin my mood. I felt great.

I found out that Kim and Ara also made it to the team. They were inviting me to celebrate with the rest of the team but I refused. As promised, I went to pick Mika up in her unit.

Once inside, Mika was still fixing something in her bedroom.

"Ly," my ears rang again. "Will you let me ride a taxi to go home later?"

"Of course not. Ihahatid na kita."

She stood by the door.

"Considering the travel time, papunta at pabalik galing Marikina, gagabihin na tayo. Ayoko ring magdrive ka pa pauwi mag-isa ng ganoon."

"I can manage."

"Ayoko." She paused to think. "Sleep over?"

I wasn't sure I heard her right. "What?"
