This is a continuation of the last drabble I made. Hopefully it ends happy. This will be split into a few more drabble.
It had been a few years later when he saw her. After she left that morning, Jinx transferred schools and was never brought up in front of him. Jinx called Kori and Raven almost every Saturday those years she left. He knew because they asked him after a while if he wanted to speak to her. They explained of course, that Jinx wouldn't know at all. Wally nodded his head no. He knew that she didn't have anything to say to her. Vise versa.
Wally was sitting there in Kori and Dick's house on their couch. Their daughter, Mar'i was turning one and he being the godfather, had to make an appearance to every single birthday. Everyone was there already - Gar, Rachel, Vic and the rest of the gang.
Dick and Kori had gone on separate ways, leaving him at the house with little Mar'i. He was holding her. Her big green eyes staring up at him curiously.
"Well kid," Wally said jokingly. "I hope your mommy and daddy aren't playing hooky!"
Kori had gone saying she needed to get something from the store real quick. Dick had some Wayne business to attend to really quick. Real quick alright.
Mar'i giggled and clapped her hands innocently.
He heard the lock jiggle with some people talking outside the door.
Wally got up, still holding Mar'i close to his side and approached the door. He began to open the door and said, "Finally! We've been wondering where you guys were."
He looked down to see Mar'i's giggly reaction.
"My little bumgorf!" Kori's think curls blinded Wally as she bent to pick up Mar'i who was putting her arms up eagerly.
Kori moved out of the way and there she was.
The girl who left him for the first time.
Her hair was cut to her exposed collarbone. California was warm enough where she could wear a white spaghetti strap top. Man, those jeans hugged her curves so well.
She stared at him through her slanted eyes and held her luggage closer.
Now that he'd thought about it, she got a lot shorter! Or he just got taller. Last time he saw her (which was a few years back), she was about 5'2. He had been six foot at the time, now a staggering six four. Jinx's face was more refined now, and that pink lipstick was doing wonders.
"Are you going to let me in?"
He had to do a double take just realizing that he was blocking her entrance while checking her out.
"Oh! Sorry," He mumbled and shuffled out of the way.
"Friend Linda!" Kori emerged with Mar'i again.
Linda? Who was Linda?
Kori grabbed Jinx's-no Linda's hand and dragged her into the house.
The whole night was full of catching up and talking of old war stories. Linda kept to herself mostly but replied if someone initiated the conversation. He had found out that she became a reporter at some newspaper. He didn't hear anything about a significant other.
Wally prepped himself in the kitchen. Just like he would before a meet, he jumped up and down and shook his head to get all the blood flowing through his body.
Dick smirked as he saw his friend approach Linda.
Unfortunately, as always, there was something in the way. Mid stride towards her, he heard a ringtone and prayed that it wasn't hers. Getting up, Linda answered the call and walked past Wally talking to someone named Leo on the phone.
Wally pouted and watched her retreat. He slumped onto the couch.
Dick swear he saw Wally's ears droop down at the disappointment. Before he could confront his best friend, Victor was there already.
"You know man," Victor began getting the redhead's attention, "I lost her to you."
Wally eyed him and turned away, rubbing his hands together. Linda had been in a relationship with Victor before him. She broke it off with him telling him that their relationship was coming to an end, and that she knew he could feel it too. Soon after she wasn't in a relationship, Wally began openly flirting with her and everyone could see the true reason behind her and Victor's break up.
Victor confronted him about it, and Wally confessed.
"Don't you lose her too."
Linda was in the guest room of Kori and Dick's house unpacking her stuff. The party ended an hour ago and everyone made their way home. Wally was staying in the other guest room too.
Wally...
Thinking of him made a shiver run through her.
A ding came from her phone. Linda rolled her eyes and continued dressing down to sleep. Leo had called her all drunk and incapable as usual.
"Knock knock," Wally said as he knocked.
Linda turned in her white spaghetti strap top and pink pajama shorts. She turned her head, the messy bun slightly moving.
They locked eyes for a moment before Linda broke it and unpacked again.
Wally didn't even know why he came here. Deciding to just go with it, he took a seat on her bed next to her phone.
Ding.
Wally peered at the phone and saw the numerous texts from someone named Leo.
Who was Leo?
A few awkward silent minutes passed before he spoke up.
"I think uh," he cleared his throat, "Leo has something to say to you."
Linda scoffed.
"What do you want Wally? I'm not a late night booty call, if that's what you're thinking."
That stung a lot.
"I wasn't-I didn't," Wall felt his face turn red.
Linda turned to look down at him with her hands on her hips. Her glare was in place and was on lock at him.
He took as that cue to leave.
