Chapter 21. Welcome to the Herd Sphinx!

*Morning*
No One POV
As morning rose, you felt the sunlight hitting your fur. Buck was asleep in a tree branch above you.
You woke up, yawned, stood up, and stretched.
No one else was awake at the moment so you went to a nearby lake for a swim.

Buck was the next to wake up. He opened his eye, got up, and stretched.
He then climbed down the tree (using his knife to help him).
He went to the lake where you were at.
He sat on a rock nearby.

You saw Buck and swam up to him. You then splashed him and laughed.
"Hahaha. Very funny." Buck said.
"You should come in. The water's warm." You said, trying to convince him.
"Nah. I'm good." Buck said.
An idea popped in your head.
You swam behind the rock, got on the rock and pushed Buck in.
His eye widened when you did so.
You then went back in the water.
"What was that for?" Buck asked when he returned to the surface.
"For not saying yes to your best friend aka me." You said, pointing to yourself.
Buck rolled his eye and splashed you. You splashed him in return.
You both then laughed and swam for a few moments.

Peaches woke up to the sound of laughter nearby.
"They sure are cute together." She said.
"They sure are." Ellie agreed.

After about 10 minutes of swimming, relaxing and playing, you and Buck headed up to land.
Buck then grabbed his knife and held it against his shoulder.
You then wrang yourself out and headed to where Peaches was.

"Hey girl!" Peaches said.
You climbed on Peaches and sat on one of her tusks.
"Hey. What's up?" You asked, looking up at Peaches.
"Relaxing." She said.
"So how are you and Buck doing?" Peaches asked.
"Pretty good actually." You said.
"Hey. I'm gonna go ahead and hang out with my family for a bit. You can come too if you want. You don't have to." Peaches said.
"Oh no. Go ahead. It's your family after all." You said and hopped down from Peaches' trunk.

Sphinx sat up on a tree branch, watching everyone do their own thing.
She then sighed and went back to sleep.

"Are you sure we should be letting Sphinx join the herd? I mean, she did try to kill us and Dawn's family." Diego said.
"I say we should give her a chance." Ellie said.
"Ok. If she turns on us one more time, she's out. Does everyone agree to this?" Manny asked, looking at everyone.
They all nodded their hesds in agreement.
"Ok. Good." Manny said.

Sphinx woke up about an hour later.
She opened her eyes, stretched, and climbed down the tree.
"Hey Sphinx!" Ellie greeted her.
"Oh, hey Ellie!" Sphinx said. Giving Ellie a small wave.
"I just waned to say that you're now apart of the herd!" Ellie said, smiling.
Sphinx was shocked.
"You're joking right?" Sphinx said.
"Nope. You can even ask Manny." Ellie said. Sphinx then smiled.
"Tell him I said thank you." Sphinx said and nodded.
"Will do!" Ellie said and went to where her husband was.

Sphinx smiled to herself. She hasn't felt this welcome by anyone in years.
