Of course it devastated Phil for Dan not to love him back. It took a good two weeks just for him to get out of bed by himself, without Troye and Chris making him. Phil kept quiet most of the time, and Dan had avoided the group all together.

But Dan had a different reason for avoiding them than Phil. He and Charlie kept getting into fights, long ones that usually ended in slamming doors and tears. Oblivious Dan, Charlie was cheating on him.

The truth did come out, though. It only took a good month, and by then Dan was fed up and followed the boy, catching him. He screamed, made a scene; all Charlie did was roll his eyes and told Dan to fuck off. He called him pathetic, told him that if he put out he wouldn't have cheated.

That tore Dan apart.

Sobbing, Dan dialed Phil's number, and, after Phil debated three rings, he picked up. "Look, Dan, I just-" he started, only to be cut off. "Phil?" Dan said softly, his voice breaking. Phil knew automatically he was crying. "Dan? Are you crying? What's wrong? Are you okay? Where's Charlie?" Phil fired questions immediately, getting looks of concern from Troye and Chris.

"He's not with me. He's with her. He cheated on me." Dan hiccuped. Phil gasped, wide-eyed. "Oh, Dan. I'm so sorry." It was sincere. "Can I..can I come over?" Dan asked, looking down at the ground, trying to catch his breath from crying. Phil softened. "Of course you can." He said, his voice gentle. "Phil? One more thing. I'm sorry I missed that opportunity to be with you. You're amazing. I love you." Dan sniffed. Phil's words got stuck in his throat. Did Dan really just..?

"I, um, I love you, too, Dan. See you in a bit."
