Dear Dan // AU Part One.

Prompt: It's based on Dear John, in a way. And a Lilo (Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne) of one direction fanfic. So yeah

Most of this is in letter form.

Dear Mr. Howell,

This letter is going to be very awkward, I just want to warn you. I've joined a program, Send it to Soldiers, thanks to my mom, and decided to take part in society by writing this. |

Dear Mr. Howell,

I regret to inform you that I am ungracefully awkward, and that is how this letter will be. Cursed, I tell you. I'm writing this letter for the sake of changing humanity-through a program called Send It to the Soliders.

I'd like to get to know you, as all they sent me was a picture of you in uniform. You do look quite intimidating, if I do say so. It must be rough out there.

I guess I should tell you about myself, that would be a good start wouldn't it? I'm Phillip, but you can call me Phil. I'm 26 [I put him closer to Dan's age don't yell  at me peasants], and I work in a flower shop. Little kids like to come in and ask me for flowers, and I hand them single sunflowers. I don't want them to think the world is a bad place, at least not while they're young.

I really hope you get the opportunity to write me back, as I'm very excited to meet and learn all about you.

Dear Phil,

Well, I'm glad you decided to change humanity. People like you give me hope, my friend. Everyday I see terrible things, like death and injuries and such, but then I hear about a flower shop worker giving small children sunflowers and I smile. It makes my job all the more worthwhile.

I'm 25, and I just happened to go straight into the army when I got out of highschool. My folks were never a big fan of me. So, me and my best mate, Chris, enrolled. It makes me happy that he didn't want to watch me go. Heart of gold, that guy.

You should tell me a bit more about you, as it seems we'll be here awhile. There IS a war raging, after all. By the way, you can call me Dan.
