The world is different now.

Scientists have discovered ways of finding out who really truly loves you. They say when someone loves you, their eyes turn a deep, rich, bright pink.

But I wouldn't know. It hasn't happened to me before.

My best friend Dan told me he was coming over today, so I was cleaning up. I threw my dirty clothes into my closet, and under my bed. I'd get them later. When my doorbell rang, I knew it was Dan by the way he rang it. It was a code ring. "Coming!" I yelled. When I opened the door, Dan was standing there, smiling at me. Funny, though, he was wearing sunglasses.

Again.

"Dan, it's 7 at night!" I laughed. Dan laughed nervously. "Yeah, aha, I just really love them." He assured me, and I shrugged. I let him in, and while we were walking to my room, he shook his head. I didn't think too much of it. I jumped onto my bed, stretching out and expecting Dan to the same, but he didn't. Instead, he looked up at the wall, at a senior picture of me. He shook his head furiously again. "Dan? Everything okay?" I asked, sitting up.

"What? Oh, um, yeah, everything's fine." Dan said, smiling. I raised an eyebrow but didn't question him.

Later on in the night, Dan was lying on his stomach on my bed, scrolling through his phone. I smiled to myself. I was gonna sneak up on him and steal his glasses. Quietly, I tiptoed to my bed, and then jumped on Dan. He jumped in surprise, and I grabbed the glasses from his face. "Ha! I got em!" I cheered. But Dan wouldn't look at me.

"Dan? Dan, I'm sorry, it was a joke." I bit my lip, thinking he was mad at me. "No, you're right, it had to come out sometime." He said softly. When he met my eyes, I watched his eyes change from a soft brown to a vivid, bright pink. I gasped softly.

"Is that why you've been wearing those glasses so much lately?" I asked softly. Dan nodded shamefully. "Yes, and I know you don't feel the same, so can we go ahead and get this over with because-" I cut him off, walking over to him and lifting his head. I could feel my eyes turn, and that made me smile.

"Who said I didn't feel the same way?" I said, locking our lips together.
