|National Red Day |
« EDITED »Jackson was sat at his and Mark's normal spot, raking his brain on why there were so many people wearing red today. Every area of his campus had been riddled with full on or hints of the colour; it made him feel excluded. And, just as he was about to start thinking of an excuse to why he hadn't just asked his friends, someone entered the shop.
"Afternoon, Mark," Seokjin greeted from behind the counter. Said male waved to the coffee shop's owner, scanning the usual crowd for familiar coffee-coloured hair and sharp features.
When he finally spotted the younger male, Mark lifted his index finger and mouthed "one sec" before moving to the counter to get a drink. "Water," Mark ordered monotonously. Namjoon continued emptying a bag of sugar into a large glass jar, only sparing Mark a glance.
"Fire," the elder male replied, tossing the now empty bag into a garbage bin.
"Infires man!" Someone shouted from the entrance of the store.
"It was one time!" Another voice whined. It only took Mark a second more to recognize the voices.
The first was Jeon-Kim Jungkook, Seokjin's aforementioned child and Namjoon's kid – kind of (not really), but that was something complicated and for another time. The second voice was to be mentioned later.
"Kookie!" Another voice shouted from the far side of the room.
"Inseongie!" The teen yelled, his black hair peaking out of a thick beanie as he grinned in a certain direction. He was wearing a winter uniform under his bulky coat and the uniform shirt was unbuttoned, a t-shirt on full display, that said: "you gotta at least loss your passport once".
(Inseong from KNK btw.)
Jackson watched as a tall boy with ebony hair ran to the 'cookie' person (he recognised the teen's face but didn't know the name). The pair met half way and the shorter of the two was pulled into a bone-crushing hug.
The blue haired guy, who'd seemed upset before, shuffled over to the two hugging boys, craning his neck to introduce himself stiffly to 'Inseongie'. Mark shook his head when he caught bits and pieces of Inseong's comments about the absence of Taehyung, Jungkook's accomplice since he was three, as the trio sift through:
"how have you been? how's namjoon-hyung and your dad? excited for senior year? why are you wearing a school uniform in February[1]?" (Jungkook clarified quickly that he'd just returned from a competition in which he'd represented his school).
"how's your mom doing? how's college?"
The three of them moved to the table Inseong had been sat at after the two siblings' a hundred and one questions turned into a proper conversation.
The coffee shop regained its calm and collected atmosphere and Mark decided to try again. "Water."
"Fire," Namjoon repeated, leaning forward. He wore a stupidly smug expression and it irritated Mark.
"Why are you like this!" The blonde shrilled in exasperation.
"I heard no 'please'," Namjoon answered nonchalantly. Mark narrowed his eyes at the male for a moment before sighing in defeat.
"Can I pLEaSse have some water?"
"Sure thing, valued customer!" Namjoon beamed loudly before walking off. Mark sighed once again, walking over to Jackson – who wore an amused smile – and sitting opposite to him; the mocking grin made Mark roll his eyes.
