"Yo," Jackson greeted. Mark dipped his head as a greeting as they neared the entrance of THiS KIM's COFFEE SHOP coming from opposite directions. They both peered at the door for a minute (a few seconds).

"I don't want to go in," Mark whispered. Jackson nodded - muttering "same" - and they sat down at a table next to the entrance, silently trying to figure out where to go instead.

"When are you going to teach me about being happy?" Mark inquired after a few minutes had passed. Jackson shrugged, picking at his nails lazily.

"Maybe I've already started and we just don't know." Mark rolled his eyes and Jackson's face lit up when he thought of a place. He made a quick call to a busy Seokjin - who glared at him through the large windows for not just popping into the shop instead. "Do you wanna go somewhere?" Jackson asked after standing up abruptly. The blonde narrowed his eyes and stood as well.

"No," he drawled sarcastically as Jackson dragged him to Namjoon and Seokjin's car.

"I'll be back soon," Jackson said through the rolled down window, walking to gas station building after Mark nodded and pulled out his phone.

The brunette hummed happily at the familiar chime that came with pulling one of the building's heavy double doors open. "Good afternoon," the cashier greeted mechanically. Jackson shot her a quick and polite smile (even though she wasn't looking at him) before disappearing into the few small aisles that were there. He walked to the back (where the freezers were) first and picked up two cokes.

Then the raiding of the aisles was next. Jackson chose three different flavours of Lay's, a bag of gummy worms and then he finally got the biscuits section, the second to last row.The one section he hated the most, because there were too many options and he could never just buy one box or brand.

He picked up a pack of Ritz before he noticed a small area of brown and light pink boxes of Pocky and the nauseating green packaging of the Green Tea Pocky. Jackson grimaced at the disgusting snack, sighing after picking up a pack and adding it to his basket after seconds of needed moral contemplation.

Two Weeks Ago

Jackson had offered to walk Mark to his campus and they were nearing the location when Mark stops, suddenly asking if they could do something else before splitting up for another seven days. Jackson shrugs as his answer, not minding the idea of spending a bit more time with the latter.

After a moment of thought, Mark suggests getting ramen at a convenience store and Jackson doesn't have any better options in mind so he agrees, recalling the forgotten fact that he hadn't eaten anything but a half empty bag of Cheetos since breakfast.

They split up when they arrive. Jackson gets the ramen and Mark gets the drinks plus a few snacks for 'dessert'. The blonde reappears at the eating area - where Jackson had been waiting - with two cokes and a pack of Green Tea Pocky. Jackson's face scrunches in disgust.

"What? Why do you look constipated?" Mark asks as he walks over to Jackson.

"How can you eat that sin of flavour?" The brunette inquires. Mark rolls his eyes and Jackson almost falls off his bar stool after dodging the packet of said Pocky that Mark tries to hit him with (Jackson declares it assault though it would have barely been a tap).

"It's an acquired taste."

"So is relish on cake but that doesn't make it any less disgusting."

-------

It was still cold and, because the snow was melting, it was a muddy mess under soggy grass. Mark and Jackson knew it would be a disaster driving home in their soiled clothes but - after walking for a few minutes - they sat down anyways.

Jackson rolled his eyes at the way Mark's sparkled (secretly admiring it) when he spotted the small green box while sifting through the bag of snacks and drinks Jackson had bought. They were sat in - what Mark thought - the middle of Jackson's favourite meadow. Mark tore open the box of biscuits and lay down on his back, munching on the snack and not worrying about potentially choking.

"So you don't even know if you've started teaching me," Mark said, trying to continue/finish the conversation they'd started at the coffee shop. Jackson shrugged, opening one of the bags of Lay's.

"Maybe I've started, maybe I haven't."

"That - doesn't help. What childish thing are you even using to 'teach' me?"

"The rainbow - I guess - but colours are all around us, sweetie." Mark flushed at the pet name but he dismissed it because a gust of cold air had blown through at the same time.

"When does the bet end?" Mark asked.

"My job is done the minute I get you to admit you appreciate something I - or someone else - did."

"So you're going to leave me?"

"No!" Mark shot a quizzical look and Jackson chuckled stiffly. "I mean - no, I won't leave you."

A.N

lol i actually love green tea pocky.

HALF WAY MARK - i think - and sorry for not updating this in such a long time. i was fretting (because of laziness) about doing a double update but i've decided that the last two chapters will come as a double update because of their similarities to each other.

HAPPY DECEMBER!
