« EDITED »Without realizing it, the main pairing of the story had silently decided and agreed on a time to meet up. And Jackson was an hour late.
He'd been kept back by all of his friends, forced to listen to each of their most recent problems. First Jinyoung had started complaining because Burger King was going to test out 24-hour services and the branch he worked at was going to be the first to implement it. Jackson had escaped him but once he turned the corner a wild Kunpimook had materialized. He ranted to Jackson about someone who'd said he looked like Chicken Little, the younger then told him how he'd shot back "I'm not Jae from Days" and walked away. Jackson had rolled his eyes and sped away but Youngjae was just around the corner; and so on until even Lucas and Other Mark appeared to greet him and ask him questions about the campus.
Jackson pushed the coffee shop's glass door open and greeted the owners, his eyes catching on the baby blue sweater worn by a certain male as he read a thick book with his legs crossed in his chair. He quickly ordered a hot chocolate, waiting for it before walking to his and Mark's table. Just as Jackson sat, Mark raised his head, smiled and closed his book. Jackson undoubtably swooned. He greeted Jackson and the younger male mirrored the action.
"Why are you wearing that?" Jackson asked, motioning to the large pullover that the blonde was practically hidden in.
"Am I not allowed to wear it?" Mark retorted jokingly. Jackson shook his head instantly.
"It's okay. It's just that, normally, you wear more – darker colours. It's different– nice seeing you look a bit less emo," Jackson justified poorly. He wasn't sure if he'd upset the latter but if that was his attempt at fixing it, things would've gotten worse. Mark shrugged (just a quick movement of one shoulder), glancing down at the book cover and trying to find a way to reply.
"I was cleaning out my closet the other day and found it. I stole it from my brother a trillion years ago and it's always kinda been my favourite," Mark mumbled, tracing the weirdly shaped English letters, that formed the title of his chosen book, bashfully. Jackson gasped, a huge smile now on his face. To think Soft Mark would make a reappearance like this and so casually. Jackson had missed it... which is what he would have said if he appreciated that side of the blonde but he definitely (did) didn't – though he'd admitted it a while back but that's not the point.
So Jackson tries to escape his endless void of Mark-based thoughts by exclaiming, "You finally admitted you're old!" Mark threw him a playful glare and finally pushed his book to the side.

"Is he always like this?" A voice asked. Seokjin just stared remorsefully as his lover cradled his little toe and held back tears of pain.
"Clumsy? Of course – all the time – sadly," he replied, shaking his head.
"Who is that?" Mark asked, motioning to the person beside Jin.
"A new employee and–" Jackson swatted at Mark's hand when he tried to steal some of his hot chocolate, "he usually comes here with a taller guy with big eyes. His name is Baekhyun – I think." Mark can't help but find the discriptions – and name – familiar.
"Can I go talk to him?"
"Why are you asking me?" Mark shrugged. The only reason he could think of was that Jackson knew more about this Baekhyun, so he answered with a simple "I dunno". The brunette finished his drink and sighed, "I don't think it's a good idea actually."
"Why?" It was Jackson's turn to shrug.
"Because he's doing his training and Jin will throw a hissy-fit and probably throw you out too." The younger said it very matter of fact and it made Mark feel some sort of way.
"Later, I guess."

They left at five that day. It was a bitter evening but Jackson still offered to walk Mark home and Mark still agreed. They both babbled about random things until the elder of the two saw a beautiful blue circle in a bright shop window. He halted immediately and ran up to the window, eyeing the bracelet.
"Jackson, it's beautiful!" Mark beamed, glancing over his shoulder at the younger male that was waiting for him and listening to all his wonderstruck comments. Jackson hummed, moving to the spot beside Mark. The childish twinkle in blonde's eyes was replaced by a deflated pout and Jackson missed it as soon as he noticed the sudden disappearance. Mark turned and walked away. Jackson following suit, catching up to him quickly.
"It literally looks like it's made from plastic but it's $70!" Mark argued in disbelief.
They walked the rest of the way, to Mark's college gates, in silence.

Jackson pulls the store's door open just as an employee is about to flip the 'Open' sign. The noticeably exhausted worker steps back in surprise and watches Jackson try to catch his breathe.
"I want that," the blonde blurts, pointing to the display in the window when he's no longer gasping for air. The employee nodded blankly, moving over to where the cash register is located. Another two equally tired workers shuffle around the expensive-looking shop, cleaning and moving things around and locking things in their respective cases.
After the bracelet is packaged, Jackson cradles his credit card in his hands, whispering sweet nothings to it. Before handing it over, he exhales slowly with his eyes closed, already guessing the questions he'll get from his parents.
