|Frozen Beaches and "The Sun Doesn't Have to be Yellow"|
« EDITED »Mark was on a beach, freezing his ass off (his friend had forced him to only wear swim trunks and a tank top) and sitting next to Jackson Wang.
He'd skipped his classes for the day with Yoongi and Jimin (Yoongi's boyfriend) because the now raven haired male was meeting the dwarf's parents and Mark was there to radiate moral support from a distance (he made sure to make the distance as far away from the pair as possible).
In the end, He'd bumped into an old, close friend, who was visiting the country to do a few meet-and-greets for their fans, and Mark had lost a bet while they waited around outside a random café. Jackson just so happened to be laying on the sand in a sweatshirt and winter coat with sweats. Mark thanked everyone, he could think of, that he didn't have to go through the two hours of punishment alone. It was nose numbingly cold (let's not question my descriptions) but the sun and sky was clear and bright. "C-Can I tell you a story?" Mark asked shakily. Jackson raised his head from his phone and nodded, giving his full attention to Mark.

12 Year Old Mark
"I'm sorry Mark. My - um - friend needs help with the tiny ones," Yixing apologizes, standing up from his seat at a table for toddlers and running off. Mark sighs and rests his head on the old, marked-up table.
"You look sad, gege." Mark peers up at two kids he's become friends with in the two days he's had to spend in the children's section of this godforsaken orphanage. "I'm okay Lulu," Mark reassures. The six year old gives him a smile that makes Mark narrow his eyes. Luhan pushes a toddler in front of him, "Chenle wants to tell you something!" And then Luhan is gone (correct term: either in earshot, annoying his friend, Sehun, or rambling on about practically anything with Minseok and Jongdae). Mark lifts his head so he can look at the three year old better.
"There's a wewrd boy that won't talk to anyone," Chenle squeaks, pointing to the other side of the large room where a boy is scribbling onto a paper with a purple crayon while occasionally gulping down a carton of milk. Mark thanks Chenle and walks over to the boy. He stares at the grey circle at the top left corner of the boy's drawing for a moment before remembering that his friend had taught him a few phrases and questions in Korean.
"W-What are do-ing you?" Mark tries to ask, guessing it sounds odd. The boy beams up at him with a dopey grin, ignoring the sentence's structure because he's only at an intermediate level and is just as horrible at the complicated language.
"Drawing," he replies, motioning to the bright stick people on his paper.
"What is- your name?"
"Kunpimook." Mark sat down in one of the chairs opposite of Kunpimook. "Do you know how speak English?" The boy asked in the best English he could muster. Mark sighs in relief and nods.
"What is that?" He asks, switching to his mother tongue gratefully and pointing to the grey circle. Kunpimook smiles brightly, putting down the crayon.
"The sun," he states proudly.
"Isn't it supposed to be yellow or orange?" Mark immediately regrets asking because it makes the child frown.
"Everyone say that and I don't like it," Kunpimook mutters, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Why?" Kunpimook shifts in his seat and scratches at the single green zigzag line that represented grass.
"Because everyone, everywhere, follows made up rules that were made by normal everyone's. I'm five – I think – and I don't want to colour the sun yellow or orange because don't want to. Sometimes I like saying: up is down and that this place is a palace because it make me happy," the boy ranted. Mark smiles and leans onto the table.
"When you're done drawing your picture, can I have it to remember you? I'm leaving soon but I never want to forget today!" Mark explains in the enthusiastic voice everyone reserves for children.
"Sure!" Kunpimook exclaims.
"I'll give it back to you when I find you again, one day," Mark promises. The child stares at him skeptically.
"I don't think that will happen."
"Let's hope it does, Kunpimook."

"Cute," Jackson commented, observing a cloud, that was shaped like a dragon (he swore it was), float past. Mark secretly got all flustered from the muttered word. The brunette had had – the starts of – a grin on his face throughout the story and a warm smile, every once in a while, from the younger male beside him had his mind muddled. So he couldn't tell whether the comment was about the story or him.
"Why are you here, by the way," Mark inquired. Jackson shrugs, glancing at the blonde before focusing on the sky again.
"Some team building thing that my class had to do. I'm here for three days and I bailed when it got too boring," he explained, checking the time on his phone. Jackson sighed and stood before helping Mark up. He passed the older male his coat and started walking up the beach. "The two hours are up and my friend just texted me. They're getting lunch so I'm gonna go reappear. See you," Jackson said before leaving.

Mark meets up with a rushing Yoongi and rambling Jimin. His elder friend was trying to get back to Seoul to get to his part-time job and his lover was just overjoyed because their afternoon had gone perfectly. He hurried them along, calling up the visiting friend instantly.
He spends the rest of the afternoon and a bit of the evening on the balcony of a stunning hotel, sipping banana milk and reminiscing with Junhui. When the many bright yellow cartons are finished and/or forgotten and they move from talking of passed summers to the present, Jun's management finds him and he hurriedly questions Mark about the coat he hadn't had on when they met earlier that day. Mark explains quickly, pulling out his phone to at least text Jackson a thank you but the device is dead. After he leaves Jun and the hotel room he instantly forgets and accidentally claims the coat.
