Blushing, I turned around to grab my apartment keys. Hopefully the little light in the room made it harder for Wes to see me blush. Closing and locking my apartment door behind us, we started out of the building. As we got to his car, he ran ahead of me and opened the door.
"Thanks," I said with a small smile.
"Anything for you," he smiled too. On the way to the theatre, which was about 10 minutes away, we listened to Wes' favorite band, The Summer Set. As we stopped at a stop light his favorite song by them came on. Wes started dancing and singing, making both of us laugh nearly to tears. Wes isn't particularly good at singing which makes it all the more funny.
"What would I do without you?" I wondered aloud.
"Well you'd probably be best friends with that totally fake girl in our photography class and secretly hate her." he replied with a cute little smirk.
"I thought you liked that girl!" I said changing the subject.
"No, I like someone else." Wes said looking over at me. We stayed quiet the rest of the way to the theatre. After we found a parking spot the rain had stopped, which was nice because our parking spot was in the last row farthest from the building. When we got to the entrance Wes insisted on paying for the tickets.
"Two tickets for Love Without Limits please," he said to the ticket lady. Once we got our popcorn and soda we picked a spot right in the middle of the theatre, the perfect spot so you don't have to strain your neck. For awhile we made small talk and did those little quizzes they have before the movie starts. Finally it did start and the theatre went quiet.
"Whats this movie about?" I asked in a whisper.
"Love," Wes replied, whispering in my ear quietly.
"Well ya I get that but what about love?" I asked.
"Well watch and find out," Wes replied. It turned out be an amazing movie that had me silently crying at the end, with my head on Wes' shoulder and his arm around my shoulders drawing me close to him.
"Are you okay?" he asked me.
"I'm fine," I mumbled drawing away from him and wiping my tear stained face. Wes smiled a little and stood up offering me his hand. Taking it we made our way out of the theatre. It had started raining again while we were in the theatre. Running back to the car we got soaked.
"I love Seattle but I could do without the rain for awhile." Wes mumbled.
"Agreed," I said looking over and smiling at him. When we got back to my apartment I asked Wes if he wanted to come in, have some tea and dry off.
"Sure, but do you have coffee? I don't drink tea." Wes asked with a small smile.
"Yeah of course come on," I replied opening my door and running to the lobby doors before I got too much more wet. I started shivering so much I could barely unlock my door.
"I'm going to change quick so I stop shivering," I said finally getting the door open and throwing my keys on the table by the door.
"Okay," I heard Wes reply was I shut my bedroom door. Quickly peeling off my wet clothes, I threw on a pair of jeans, a tank top and a sweatshirt over my tank top. Grabbing a towel in the bathroom for Wes, I headed back to the kitchen.
"Where'd you go?" I called when he wasn't in the kitchen.
"In here," he called back from my living room. He was where he usually is when he comes to my apartment, sitting in the loveseat looking at his camera.
"What kind of coffee do you want?" I asked him making him jump a little. I guess he didn't hear me come in.
"Just decaf, I won't be able to sleep otherwise." he said smiling sheepishly.
"That's why you should drink tea!" I joked as I turned around and sauntered off to the kitchen again. All I heard was his laugh followed by his footsteps following me to the kitchen. As I put the coffee into the coffee maker, Wes made my tea for me. We both reached for the faucet at the same time and our hand brushed each others. I pulled my hand back quickly and turned back to the coffee machine. Once I was done putting in the filter I turned around and Wes was standing behind me with a cute little crooked smile. Reaching out to me he put his hands on my waist and pulled me against him. When I looked up at him he leaned down and kissed me on the lips. At first I froze in shock and confusion and then I reached up and locked my hands around his neck pulling him closer. Then it hit me, this is my best friend. I pulled away from him and shook my head trying to clear it. Wes just looked a me in confusion.
"I'm sorry, Wes, we can't do this we are best friends and we work together." I said. He just looked at me and then said."I'm sorry. Lets forget this night ever happened." With that he grabbed his camera off the table and walked out the door.
