Chapter 23

Kandi's p.o.v.

Here it is already Friday and I have been thinking long and hard about going to give my last respect to my Grandmother and I'm just go put on my big underwear and go cause I cause hold this craziness over her head. Chris took the kids to his mom's house and I got us some clothes to put on. I got in the shower and did what I had to do got out brushed my teeth and walked in the room and Chris was laying on the bed.

"How you feeling baby?" he asked.

"I'm good." I told him.

"Keep it real what's wrong?"

"Nothing I just hope that none of this people come at me side ways or even look at me crazy I'm going to go the fuck off."

"We can just go pay respect and leave cause I don't need you going to jail."

"And that's just what we go do so I can get back to me kids." I said as I was doing my hair in the mirror and Chris was putting his clothes on some black dickies with a nice black dress shirt with his Tims. After I was done with my hair I put on my clothes some black skinny jeans and a nice white dress shirt with my black heels with the red bottoms.

"Baby you look so beautiful." Chris said as we walked out the house.

"Thanks baby." I said as he locked the house up and we got in my car and I backed out the driveway and made my way to my Grandmother's house since Donna ain't tell me nothing but meet her ain't my Grandmother's house. We got there right at noon and it was a lot of car outside my Grandmother house. We got out and Chris took my hand in his and we walked up to the house and I knocked on the door and Donna opened the door.

"Thank you for coming Kandi." She said with a smile.

"Its no big deal." I said.

"Come in and we about to go to the church." She said and we walked in the house and everyone looked at me as I walked in the living room.

"Who is she and what she doing here?" Some girl asked okay here is the crazy part I never meet my mama nieces or nephews so I got a feel my aunts then told told this kids some crazy shit.

"Diamond that is your cousin Kandi and that was her grandma to so stop being rude." Donna told her and she rolled her eyes. "Y'all come on we have to get to the church." Donna said and we walked out the house and Chris and I got in my car and waited for them to go so we can follow them.

"Now you see why I ain't want to come them motherfuckers shut my sister and I out their life like we was some nobodies out on the streets they damn kids don't even know." I said as Chris drove behind them.

"Baby don't worry about them ma. This is the last time you have to see them so don't stress yourself out over that shit." He said as we pulled up to the church. I wanted to cry but I couldn't cause I'm all cried out I'm going to pay my respect to my Grandmother and I don't need to see this side of my so calles family. We walked in the church and took a seat in the back.

*****After the funeral******

"Kandi can I talk to you?" Donna asked as Chris and I was getting in the car.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Your uncle Sam and I are going to go over grandma's last will and testament and I want you to be there."

"What that has to do with me?"

"Look I understand you hurt now one on this side of the family wanted to take you and your sister in and I'm sorry baby girl I'm trying to make it right with you so its up to you we'll meet up at your grandma's house at 4 p.m please come." She said and walked away and I got in the car and Chris looked at me like he was about to say nothing but didn't.
